Walnut Canyon is beautiful & peaceful ! Short trails --- great views . Not crowded - oct is beautiful.
Take your time on the island trail and if you keep your eyes peeled to the opposite canyon walls where you can spy lots of additional cliff dwellings
Bring a water bottle, even in the winter! It's a hike but well worth it! Also, look closely at the boulders. You'll see ancient fossilized sealife.
Rangers are helpful. Quiet camping sites and beautiful views . The cliff dwellings were amazing. Bring water and wear good shoes .
Island Trail is tough but offers a chance to crawl through ancient dwellings. See them from afar on easier Rim Trail . – Green Guide Editor
Nice home but avoid in summers. Carry plenty of water
A must see when you're around! Take your time and be careful during the walk.
