Gyotaku Japanese Restaurant - King Street

Food blogger Crystal "Pikko" Watanabe of Adventures in Bentomaking recommends Gyotaku for its "truly delicious Japanese cuisine. They have the best tempura , along with sushi , noodles and rice dishes."

The Godzilla roll is my favorite sushi , and i always get the miso butterfish . Unfortunately they have become much more pricey /:

I still always get the 3 choice bento . The only question is what other two choices I will make to add to my miso butter fish .

Gyotaku are the fish prints that decorate the walls here. Ink up the fish , slap it on the paper, remove fish and then color it in.

Renovating downstairs dining...upstairs dining only...grandpas and grandmas might not be able top walk up...

If misoyaki butterfish is on the menu it's what I order, and it was worth it; also impressive was the tempura—battered just enough and not greasy.

Take out pick up around back of building....parking tight squeeze!

Don't take out , the amount of food you get with take out cannot compare to eating in. Miso soup is still in powder form, need to add water at home!

Get the combination lunch specials for a filling meal!

Try ordering shrimp tempura with all vegetables . You might just get tofu tempura !

Early bird special 4pm-6pm Wednesday-Friday

Love the food, but the service can be slow. Sushi is a bit pricey

The ninja-don with tempura really fills you up!

Good place to take the grandparents. Lots of senior and early bird specials .

Okinawan sweet potato pie is EPIC and not to be missed. Best dessert in Hawaii. Great service.
