This lesser-known, private art gallery near Georgetown University is home to a mix of African sculpture , impressionist & modern American art , a collection as spellbinding as it is modernist building.

Impressive little museum with a powerful collection. Nice grounds to walk around and get out of central DC for a bit.

Bring a book and spend some time enjoying the courtyard after you’ve explored the collection.

Nice size and not crowded . Building really nicely designed to show off the paintings and especially the sculptures outdoors.

I highly recommend taking a guided tour - it made me appreciate how much this small museum really has to offer!

Travel + Leisure

Designed by Philip Johnson in 1963, this petite gallery is as captivating as the Impressionist and Modernist works it contains (paintings by Cézann, and Braque, plus sculptures by Calder and Rodin).
