One of my favorite music venues in any of the boroughs. Small audience area keeps concerts intimate . Downside is you need to jump on tickets when bigger names come through, but it is well worth.

Concert Ticket Agency

Great intimate venue . Bands love playing here, you'll love seeing them here. Just grab your drinks on the way in and stake out your place on the floor. It's going to get crowded .

Krista VonVett

I've been here a couple of times to see some indie bands. I like the intimacy of the place. You can get a great view no matter where you stand. A good place if you like to experience bands up close.

Jason Schulweis

Very intimate venue and one where many acts get their start. Often 2 shows a night, and the separate rooms make it easy(ish) to get drinks in the outside room and go back and watch inside.

Chris Raghoobar

This near-legendary venue has hosted some of the biggest names before they got big: The Strokes, Sam Smith, Leon Bridges . A nice, intimate place to catch incredible music , perhaps the next big thing.

Gregory Rose III

Small venue , Perfect for your favorite “not insanely popular” artists whom are incredible. I’ve seen Charlie Cunningham and Peter Bradley Williams here so far.

ben m

One of the better venues in the city . Order a beer (drinks are pricey ) in the back from the girl in the corner by the door, that we you don't miss a single note of the show.

Emily Kane

Shows are almost always behind schedule. Do a walk-by of the chalkboard and kill time at a nearby bar until your show starts.

Deb M

Great venue - really good sound and small enough to see your favs up close. If a band you might like is playing there, grab a ticket it'll be worth it...

Elke Nominikat

Longstanding and still awesome! Great bar area and simply no bad standing room anywhere inside. Check out drink specials . You can't go wrong here <3

Lower East Side Partnership

Live music ? Check. DJs ? Check. Full bar ? DUH. Mercury Lounge is a guaranteed good time, as it transforms effortlessly day in and evening out from live music lounge to dance party .

JC Earle

This is a great show venue - I went to cover the Latin Alternative Music Conference and it was a great time. Their bartenders were pretty chill and their drinks were delish. Two thumbs up

Kayleigh Harrington

Great shows and always a fun crowd. Good draft beer selection .

exfm

Some of the best indie bands around come through this place which is great because the sound is great, but it's still a very intimate setting . Don't forget there's a bar in the back too!

L. T.

There are couches along the side all the way up to the stage. The minibar makes getting a drink very convenient.

Melissa Rosenthal

One of the best venues in NYC to see live music . Great sound and intimate feel.

Songza Music

If a NYC-based band makes it big it's not without playing Mercury Lounge first. Come here any night of the week and you might hear the next Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes or The National.

The Wild Honey Pie

Despite being the storefront for a seller of tombstones from 1933 to 1993, this place is always incredibly lively !

IFC

The small stage , energetic crowd and top-notch indie bookings make Mercury Lounge an anomaly in New York, where indie bands regularly play to thousands. Come smell the bands you love! - IFC Staff

RCRD LBL

Become a regular to catch acts headed for big things in this awesome, intimate room. RCRD LBL favorites like MNDR and White Rabbits both played some of their first shows here so you know they are up t

Ben P.

Simply put, the place in NYC to catch a show. You're so close to the band it feels like they're in your living room. Stick to beer and get there early to enjoy the bar . Great staff , great shows, argua

CMJ

This 250-capacity club has played host to many memorable CMJ breakout bands. In 2004, Arcade Fire graced its stage; in 2009, Mumford & Sons took baby steps on their rise with a CMJ appearance here.

Roc Nation

Any place that hosts Hip-hop karaoke is an automatic win! This intimate venue is almost always 21+ and also hosts great bands. Grab a drink when you first arrive, as the lines get notoriously long.

Caroline Chung

Great small venue for music lovers discovering up and coming talent!

Brook Shelley

Nice little venue. Beers are 8 bucks, but it's a clean place and fun crowd.

Deb M

As you get off the F train go to the 1st Avenue Exit end of the platform and then exit the station at the Houston and Allen exit - it's a 3min walk along Houston - very easy.

Charley Todd

Love this venue! Intimate and authentic . Must visit.

Portlandia

The small stage , energetic crowd and top-notch indie bookings make Mercury Lounge an anomaly in New York, where indie bands regularly play to thousands. Come smell the bands you love!

AmateurConcierge

Great venue for live shows. Not too big and not too crowded

The Feast

Show up after the opening acts are done and they might let you in gratis. Stick around at the bar after the show and rub shoulders with the bands--there's no other way out--for more free fun. Read more

Cults say their Mercury Lounge gig was “the scariest show we’ve ever played, we had been a full band for less than a month.” Fun fact: The Strokes & Yeah Yeah Yeahs cut their teeth here too.

Alex Hunter

Awesome venue to see smaller acts! Coat check and they sell ear plugs at the bar for $3 - you might need em :)

Thompson Hotels

Our concierge Ella at Smyth says that this lounge is always energetic with great indie music . Make it a weekly habit to visit Bowery Presents shows here at the Mercury lounge.

They don't have "tickets," so it's best to grab online - and be sure to get your hand stamped if you plan to step outside.

Alex Still

Bands love playing here because it sounds great and it’s a perfect sized room. Go see some local ????!

Snag a spot on the benches lining the walls, or bop back by the sound booth . Check in, check your email, and pretend your friend is just a block away.

Steve Ritter

Best small (<300 capacity) venue in the city . If a band's got buzz catch them here, the Merc is the last intimate show they'll do.

David Taylor

Don't stop just inside the door -- everyone does, but it's actually less crowded up front if you can make it through the mob blocking the door.

Chris Cummings

Sets start late, but if you get there on time, you might find seats at one of the two benches that comprise the entirety of the seating options..

Teen Vogue

This club is the make-’em-or-break-’em venue for bands on the rise. The venue’s 250-person capacity ensures that you’ll be feet from whatever artists are on stage. —Leigh Belz, features director

Wesley Verhoeve

Legendary tickets/door personal Maggie can be mistaken for extremely difficult and rude, but that's just a ruse. She's very nice and capable.

AJ Tobey

The gateway to fame and fortune. Everyone pays their dues at Merc, but not everyone gets a pass to the next level.

Joe Bastianich

One of the best music venues in the city , hands down. Small, never too packed, No pretension here, just good music .

Ryan Gallagher

Great place to see a band. Small venue intimate setting .

When the front bar is packed you can order from the tiny bar in the main room. Sometimes it's faster.
