There's been concern that scientists would accidentally open a portal to a time machine. This is that portal. Welcome to 1556! Prepare to make love to your great great great great great grandparent!
Corner bakery and sandwich shop that has irresistible delicacies and service with a smile. Veggie options , artisan coffee , and cupcakes to die for- a must while in South End.
Thick, delicious breakfast toasts. Avocado #2 has a nice spicy kick from the chili flakes . The seasonal spiced apple preserve + ricotta was DELICIOUS. Matcha latte is strong but a tad watery.
Good for coffee and light fare on the small outdoor patio . Serving light and dark roast coffee , espresso , a modest selection of muffins and pastries , and a couple quiches . Nice restroom too!
A must on weekends for brunch !! Their food is so good, the eggs Benedict , French toast and pancakes are so good!!
The restaurant is committed to using organic , all natural, locally raised & grown ingredients whenever possible. You can’t go wrong with a chocolate-dipped macaroon or a strawberries & cream cupcake . Read more
Pricey but tasty. Winners: hummus sandwich , breakfast sandwich (the biscuits are A+), kale salad w/ grapefruit vinaigrette . Sweets are just ok, but try the PB cookie - it's got Reese's Pieces in it.
Totally lives up to the hype. The market attached has some of the best looking salads and sides! If you go hungry you'll buy everything
Best breakfast spot I’ve tried in Boston so far! Breakfast sandwich and Ricotta Fritters were so good.
i had my first cup of cappucino two years ago from south end buttery and loved it! so today i decided to stop by and grab another one along with the buttery vegetarian sandwich !! tastes sooo good!
They have an amazing Avocdo toasts????????
A cute place in a cute , off the beaten path neighborhood . Try the Buttery Breakfast with chocolate & bananas . So delicious!
Best neighborhood place for morning coffee and people watching . Grab an outside table if the weather is good
The coffee is SO good. Decent selection of muffins and the like also. Oh, and there's a market next-door. ☺
Had wonderful service from Joanna, a delicious veggie burger and fries and a perfect time, until some rude woman and her stroller decided to push a chair in between my table and exit. Rude twat.
Most delicious brunch & a nice bakery attached to the restaurant . Line can be long on the weekends.
Owned by dog people and frequented by people with dogs. Look for the neat little hook for leashes just to the left of the door as you walk in. I love the turkey club ....
I always want to try something different but end up getting the meatloaf sandwich every time. You won't regret it.
Best lunch and brunch in the south end and maybe in all of Boston. Definitely try the Veggie Burger and the Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich . There's always a great vibe in the place.
Shrimp and grits were great, got experimental with a lychee bellini (off menu ) which was cool.
The GF banana walnut muffin is amazing (I need the recipe...). Fudgy brownie-holics rejoice with their masterpiece!
Given the reviews I thought I would be blown away by the brunch . Same menu you will find anywhere else. Nothing stands out as really unique except the wait.
Great for to-go options. They have the best cold brew iced coffee on this side of the Charles.
Great coffee and pastries ! Plus it's right around the corner from a Bridj pickup. Use code SOUTHEND10 for $10 off!
a favorite neighborhood spot for a quick coffee and pastry or cozy dinner downstairs.
Don't be embarrassed if you start yelling "Yes! YES!" when you taste the salted caramel cupcake . You won't be the first person that's happened to.
Pastries , coffee , and breakfast burritos . Everything is perfectly done!
Food wise it's good. Coffee not so much.I love their parm - garlic fries . ( warning it has lots of garlic )Their baked goods are good, but too big for my liking so I share them.
You must try the bread pudding and the beet salad with Yorkshire puddings , but try not to miss the grandmother-esque braised veal , penne Bolognese , or steak with potatoes and watercress . Read more
their drip coffee is so good you don't need to order espresso..I'm a decaf drinker and it's the best I think I've ever had, rich and smooth & heavy-bodied :)
When the weather is nice, opt to sit outside at their little streetside tables (2 persons/table)
Some favorites from our review: grilled cheese and tomato , the meatloaf sandwich , and for dessert the lemon raspberry rose cupcakes . Read more
Biscuit breakfast sandwich
Don't miss the Avocado toast ????????
Get a coffee and a cupcake (or sandwich -- ham & cheese or chicken curry ) and sit outside. Lots of good puppy watching. =)
Nice place to have breakfast/brunch. A little too hot for this summer days but good overall.
Early mornings on the weekends is the best time to get here. Long waits during the day. Otherwise great food for lunch and dinner . Dessert ? Try the cupcake ice cream . Yum!
Get a table in the back to avoid the constant draft on cold days.... Then order a cortado .
Had to wait a while. But totally worth it. They take care of their guests.
When it's crowded forget your orders.. it's gonna take 20 min to get a coffee ..!
Jeez! That choc dipped macaroon is TO DIE FOR. But they don't know how to make cortados :( she made me a short latte instead
Avocado toast is expensive for one slice but gooooood. Can’t beat the neighborhood .
Great counter service for a quick fix. Was swim homemade biscuits . Super clean
Love the vibe of the downstairs restaurant area. So cozy ! The exposed brick and lighting is romantic .
Cafe kitchen closes at 5pm, the patio for the cafe closes at 5:30pm
Cozy ...also jenis ice cream for sale in cafe side
Best brunch place ! Chocolate chip banana pancakes are to die for !
Very good! Enjoyed my breakfast burrito and coffee .

They serve Illy coffee, can't beat it and the creative Benedict's are very tasty! - meaghan fahey
Grab a patio table, enjoy the mocha (pretty good for $4.30 or so, 16 oz). Cranberry lemon scone was amazing, moist & fresh, large cranberries. Next time: crepes - Mike Frayne
So much fun spend the entire day there so much to see loved the farmers market check out the studios lots of talented artists and great vendors - Zoe Louis
Obviously the cheese is amazing here and the staffs nows their s#%^ but I always go for 3 things: 1. The olive mista is amazing 2. The 15 and under wine table always has great wines 3. Baguettes - Andy Kearney
On the warm weekends, grab some dim sum takeout from Myers and Chang, then pick a spot under one of the budding trees for a relaxing picnic (and some fabulous people watching). - Proxy Apparel
