Memorial Stadium was built in 1923 as a memorial to Illinois men and women who died during World War I.

Did you know that Memorial Stadium was used as an indoor practice facility from 1985 through 2000 because of an air-tight vacuum dome? It was called “The Bubble.”

Harold “Red” Grange had an unreal performance on Oct. 18, 1924, the stadium’s official dedication. He ran for 265 yards and scored 4 times…in the first 12 minutes of play.
