Borinquen Lounge

Famous for creating the Steak jibarito sandwich , cozy atmosphere and customer service is excellent. Their other location closed recently so this is the primary location for this popular cuisine.

For those of you that are wondering what the fuck a Jibarito is, relax I will tell you. Basically, the typical bread on this sandwich is replaced with fried plantains . They are amazing and garlicky.

The jibarito sandwiches are amazing and I would recommend trying the steak one. The atmosphere at this place is great, too. Unlike the Borinquen on California Ave., this lounge has a full bar .

It was just like home cooking . Menus could be replaced, a little run down. However the food was really good. It's your typical family owned Hispanic restaurant , home cooking with home flavors.

The jibaritos are delish, the rice is dry as it seems they make it in bulk and keep it in a rice cooker all day.

The Jibaritos de lechon is my favorite and so are the Pasteles
