One of my fave spots in Bangkok. Built by an American war hero who revitalized the Thai silk industry . Stunning example of Thai architecture . Take a tour , and enjoy this little respite from the city !
Top spot in Bangkok. Impressive looking traditional thai housing complex. Mix of history, architecture , antiques , crafts (silk-weaving). Inexpensive & easily accessible. Great restaurant & shop, too.
Beautifully houses, nice free, short tour (only way to see it) & inexpensive entrance. All goes to charity & preservation so grab a drink/food in the restaurant .
Been here a many times since the 80’s & the museum has expanded with cafe & party/conference space & library . The store has gotten bigger & the original houses are so well maintained. A must visit.
Amazing place. Impressive traditional Thai architecture , a wide collection of century old antiques and Thai art , beautiful gardens and ambience. You can watch live silk-weaving and traditional dance !
200B per pax - includes 35 min guide in d house n garden . No photo taking inside house. Informative tour , n beautiful house w many antique furniture n statues . 5 min walk fr National Stadium BTS.
Worth a visit to see how the traditional Thai house is fused with western ideas. Feels like in the set of 'The King and I' n getting in and out of mirrors. Guided tours in various languages available.
Thai traditional house and art collection with the lush and tropical garden . Recommend for short stay tourists .
Good thing you can spend your time at a perfect green garden . Unfortunately the excursion in a “museum ” takes only 35 minutes and you can not come back inside a house. Time in the garden - unlimited.
30 minutes tour of the house. Historical landmark , filled with Burma and Thai/Siam artifacts . Japanese, Chinese and Thai tour guide interpreters. Lovely foliage/plant life with carp/Japanese koi fish .
Tickets at 180baht per person, includes a guided tour . Wear shoes easy to put on and take off as there are areas where no shoes are allowed
Amazing house, out of all museum houses I went in different countries , this one impressed me the most, well maintained, it has a shop with good quality clothing and cozy yard????
Don't be put off by the "restaurant at a tourist site"... the food there is actually very good, and with a comfortable environment. A nice way to rest after the Jim Thompson tour .
Friendly staff , fab tours and beautiful house filled with Thai and Burmese antiques . The shop is worth a look too.
Must visit place in BKK, just need 1h to have a valuable intro to Thai culture while discovering the architecture & nice gardens ????
Six teak buildings, which represent the best Thai architecture . Take a tour (100/50 THB) to know all about the traditional religious rituals. And, silk . Amazing place!
The house in which Jim Thomson lived. He helped revitalize Thai silk industry after WW2, and misteriously disappeared in Malaysian mountains . 100 Bahts entrance fee, worth to visit.
Close to Bts national stadium station , go along the street near nissan showroom, and after a 3 min walk you will reach a hidden gem in the city .
Not a must in Bangkok, but I enjoyed. You wait nearly 40 min before the tour , the tour takes 30 min. Nice house and art collection .
Exit 1 fr National stadium BTS. Left turn @ bottom of stairs. Past Ibis, n Turn Right into road that is just next to the Nissan building. About 3-5 min walk to Jim Thompson museum (on ur left)
Come to see a beautifully architected house composed of 6 different traditional Thai homes, some over 200 years old -- and all surrounded by a peaceful green garden .
Head for the historic Jim Thompson House and learn about the brand's mysterious namesake, an American who gained worldwide recognition for rebuilding the Thai silk industry .
Definitely must be seen. Tour cost 200 baht, including English speaking guide . You can spend 2-3 hours
Lovely, nice and cosy house!:) Interesting to see oriental interior and know the Jim Thompson story. Great choice of silk in the shop, though, just in case, there is one in the airport too.
Free navette from the national stadium metro to the house. Very quiet and beautiful place, don't miss the restaurant too!
An amazing place, where you can learn about the history of Thailand and Jim Thompson's, an american that has vanished in the 1970s. Admission fee: 100 THB.
Hidden attraction the gives you a feeling how live was before all if the skyscrapers . After the visit go to the river and take the boat!
40 min tour and it cost you only 100 baht, worth every penny! Beautiful house and beautiful history
A nice place to visit. You will need less than one hour to explore this beautiful Thai traditional house. Don't miss it !
Excellent facilities and well managed. Nice half hour tour . Restaurant and museum shop worth a visit. All highly recommended.
Beautiful gardens and fascinating history! A must see in Bangkok!
Nice example of traditional Thai construction , even though Mr. Thompson had the walls facing the wrong way. Just sorry you can't visit without a mandatory tour guide and included group of tourists .
interesting history, a quick tour and if in Bangkok more than 2 days a must see.
A Good place to explore. Thai style houses, nice garden . But the restaurant is a Meh, expansive but not tasty. There is a black tiny worm on the lime of my drink, and they just removed the lime ????????
Interesting history; must go on the tour if you want to access the house (included in admission price)
Must-see poi of Bangkok. Great example of Western-Eastern art and architecture fusion done right.
Neat tour about an idiosyncratic historical site . It only takes an hour to see, so it's an easy in and out.
Excellent tour by the museum guide and the collections are just such beauties!
We just came here based on the good reviews related to the Coconut Ice Cream . We got really disappointed cause the recipe and the taste cannot be considered the same of the traditional one.
Nice architecture , beautiful HOUSE and great food. Expensive itens in the Store.
One of the best western-style cultural venues in Bangkok. Right now, they're showing "The House on the Klong" which recounts the disappearance mystery and Thompson's rise to international taste-maker Read more
The guided tour is good, nice to know the history of this place even-though it's not completely transitional Thai
'The House by the Klong' of Jim Thompson, the 'Father of Thai Silk '. Jim Thompson, an American, came to Thailand at the end of WWII and helped revive the Thai silk industry .
Nice 30minutes tour to know Jim thompson,, A foreigner who built Thai silk and art ,,
Gorgeous place. You truly should visit this place if you travel to Bangkok
Wonderful place to know in Bangkok. Cool history with an excellent restaurant .
Food at the restaurant to totally worth it. Coconut ice cream is to die for. Sometimes there are special exhibits above the store.
Perfect infotainment place for design students and professional to learn about Thailand cultural
I can't help but feel this is a tourist trap for middle-aged Westerners. It was nice to take a peek into his home, but would have rather learned more about silk .
Scarfs are beautiful, not so expensive and perfect for a gift . Pictures not allowed inside of the house ????
The building in itself is worth a visit. The art gallery is rather small. The coffee shop on the first floor is good for quick break and the the library has good books in both Thai and English. - Simon Opsomer
Serene place within the city buzz. Impressive to have dinner in the garden. Very hot though - KvM
The coconut ice cream is by far the best that I've had.... And I've tried a lot! - Rachel Lin
All about IT, best arcade and cheap movie ticket on top. Don’t forget to try the sweet Thai mini pancake with the thick cream - Afil
Ice cream shop by Ice cream designer; Icedea, rlly need to try it! So good! Recommend flavor: Global Warming :) - Jita Abhakara
