Fresh local produce . Whatever is in season in North Carolina. There is another part for our of state items. Vendors are very nice and welcoming. They give you advice on how to cook veggies new to you.
Love this place! Been going since I was a kid and now take my own kids! My daughter loves it - talking to nice farmers & sampling fruits & veggies , learning about flowers ...a great Saturday excursion!
I've grown up with this farmers mkt and it's wonderful! Lots of fresh fruits and veggies at great prices. Also has jams , jellies , cakes and glass bottled cokes !
First time and not the last. I've been discovering new eateries lately. This will be on the permanent list. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes . Excellent!
Such an amazing first time experience, even in the freezing cold! A girl named Carlie at a booth was so helpful and I received great deals for very fresh produce . I can not wait to go back!
We took our second graders here so they could understand the role of producers/consumers and goods/services . They all had an amazing time and the vendors were so patient and helpful! Thank you!
Don't just stop with the veggies . The meats are far better than what you get at the grocery store !! Get there earlier for the best selection of breads and baked goods .
It's open year round and everytime you go there is a different selection of items for sale. That shows the quality and freshness of the local farmers ' food. It never disappoints.
Don't tell Union Square we sometimes cheat on them at this amazing market . NC has the BEST selection of field peas in the country !
Core Farms is also great. They have a variety of different types of apples . Try the Pink Lady they are delicious!! Peaches are good too!
German bread , bavarian pretzels , and honey cake at Annelore's German Bakery stand (and the couple used to reside in Southampton, small world). And greenhouse strawberries and tender baby bok choy from
Breakfast is fantastic. The buttermilk biscuits melt in your mouth..... and if your daring add a little NC molasses with their wonderful coffee .
Bring cash. The line at the ATM on the weekends can be loooong! Some vendors do accept cards but cash allows you to haggle!
A sure fire treat for a weekend morning! -- Go figure, a Prius would block a pedestrian crossing after not yielding right of way... Please be courteous to pedestrians!
I bought REAL local free range chicken and eggs , and wonderful local honey . Great place to shop and support the local farmers and other businesses.

Stay on the "local" side (where the bakery tent is) to support your local farmers . Buying produce and other products from the "export" side doesn't do much for the NC/Raleigh economy!
Try both the seafood restaurant and the breakfast spot for delicious food!
Bring cash or use the Credit Union ATM . Go early, if possible. Grab a bouquet of gorgeous flowers for $10.

The Les Halles of the South. Great for the fresh produce & pantry items like molasses, pepper jelly , pickles , etc.
Best place to get produce. Fresh and lasts much longer than store bought.

The inside market has the best fresh cheese , jam and jelly . There are also rare fruit extracts at some booths . I suggest at least an hour just to meander about.
