Elmo's Diner

Extensive menu, true to the American diner . Almost everything I’ve had here has been good. The fish tacos were surprisingly tasty, as were the cranberry oat pancakes . Biscuits and gravy are also yum.

Chilaquiles are delish! I always persuade 1 fellow diner w me to order them while I try the new dishes, and I still think it's the best bfast dish they have.

Great community feel and very kid friendly . A Durham institution (although the other location in Carrboro is a huge disappointment). Kids menu , pick 2 omelette and oatmeal are all excellent options!

We travel full time. This was one of the best restaurants we tried while visiting Durham. Diner feel, reasonable prices, good service . Had baked spaghetti special & shrimp sandwich . Cobbler great too!

Everything is solid but the shrimp and grits and the biscuits and gravy are over the top!

The food was awesome, and the waitress was real nice. She kept my food til i went to the laundry mat. I forgot her name, she gets a 10 from me.

You just woke up, you're hungover, and have no idea what happened last night but you need your eggs ... And pancakes ... And a morning drink... Just order any combo and a vodka tonic and you'll be set

Everything! We are eating a late breakfast , but their tomato basil soup is so good I'm taking home a bowl for dinner .

Always check out the specials on the specials board at the host stand. If you're not paying attention you'll miss it.

Food is delicious but waiter forgot the grilled chicken for my salad . This is the second time this has happened. We would come more often if they had better wait staff

I almost always get the corned beef hash , and when they have it I spring for their cider too.

Great kid's menu for the child in your life. Or for small appetites. Or if you want a side of spaghetti .

So dang good! We got Elmo burgers with bacon , the TAB wrap , & chicken fajitas ! Everything was wonderful, including the service!

Definitely get the salmon cakes !! oh, and a cup od creamy tomato basil soup . Their baked apples are really good too.

I really like their Greek omelette , and the hummus is amazing

The hummus is the best anywhere! A little spicy and great zing.

Omelettes are good and packed with ingredients...do the Pick 4! Busy, but wait did not last too long. We will go back.

Some items good some not. Full of children. We only eat here when we can't decide where else to go. It's ok. They have a better reputation than they deserve. Mediocre and gets you fed.

The Oreo shake is amazing. I have it every time.

The service is as warm and homey as the delicious food.

Seriously the Greek grilled cheese is amazing.

If you bring a Smirnoff Ice to breakfast , your friend will have to chug it immediately. Be sure to always save one, though, for an ice block .

The Cole slaw is awesome.

This is probably, honestly, the best breakfast in Durham.
