I've gone here a few times a year for the last 5 years or so. always a great experience. My personal favorites are the lamb shank and the scallop and shrimp pasta with egg noodles .
Superlative! One of the best Greek dining experiences in NYC. The afrata keftedakia (fried meatballs ) and krasata paidakia (braised short ribs ) were unbelievably satisfying. More please!
Possibly one of the top meals I've had in the city . Not only is the decor beautiful, but the food and wine are top notch. I highly recommend the octopus and the lamb chops . My compliments to the chef !
My NYC fave for Greek in a cool ambiance- 100's of clay pots hanging from above! U can't go wrong w/ any dish esp. homemade pita+dips, Saganaki , Grilled Octopus & their healthier, meatless MOUSSAKA !
Octopus was disappointing and Greek salad small for the price. Lamb chops awesome and lamb shanks too. Branzjno fine, haloumi nice. Overall Taverna kyclades much better and easier to get in.
Love the atmosphere!bread is so good, trio of greek appetizers , chops/dorado/steak were delicious! Must try - Napoleon cake with fruit mousse and their 3 pieces galaktobureki or smth like that!
Fried zucchini , patates psites were great; pork shank was tender but not very flavorful. I'll be back to try the lamb chops. The phyllo pastries filled with custard & topped with honey were incredible!
Really really good Greek food . Octopus and moussaka were amazing. Loved the vibe
Great atmosphere. Long menu with incredible choices. The lamb shank is quite big and beautifully tender. Delicious. Make sure you have an empty stomach to eat it all!
The appetizer moussaka is completely vegetarian , subbing artichoke for ground meat , while the traditional rustic egg-lemon avgolemono soup has a touch of champagne . Read more
This place is tremendous with food variety and excellent wine options. A great option in the neighborhood if you want something a little upscale yet want the East Village Energy nearby.
If you're looking for some traditional comfort food , the pastitsio is a must-try. Perfect for that 2nd or 3d dinner and drinks date
Great atmosphere and Saganaki . But…I asked for ketchup , none. Ok, asked for aioli…none of that either. How you gonna serve fried potatoes (french fries ????)with nothing to dip them in? Hmm?
What a hidden gem near Ave A. Excellent Greek food , communal table in middle for walk-ins. Meatball apps and saganaki are mouthwatering. Very cute spot. I'll be back.
Home run. Share lots of the appetizers (2 per person), drink a bottle of Greek wine , and enjoy the vibe. If it wasn't for the missing Ouzo or Arak (no liquor ), I'd be a regular.
Exceptional authentic Greek cuisine ! Nice atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. I highly recommend it ????
Some of the best Greek food in the city ! The interior is so welcoming, I could stay all night. Come with a group so you can try everything on the menu!
Come here for a legit Greek dining experience. The lamb chops were divine, as was the 16 oz new york cut sirloin steak . Order them medium rare and pair it with a full bodied greek wine !
I've had authentic Greek food all my life, and Pylos is the closest to authentic Greek cuisine you can get in New York.
This restaurant does it all: everything from the simple pita and tzatziki , to more complex Greek dishes like moussaka , dolmathes, and pastitsio. Read more
Best Greek food in NY. Closest to everyday Greek cuisine you can find outside of Greece. Save space for galaktoboureko for desert !
From the bread to the salad to the yoghurt I was blown away by how fresh the food is. It's really hard to impress a Greek, and I'm impressed!
Grilled octopus and three cheese appetizer were our favs. Also enjoyed the baby lamp chops as an entree. Fun yet mature vibe.
Went there last night for dinner . Ambience, service and food was all in sync. Def an anomaly for the area based on aesthetics and level of upscale . Astoria has competition. Will be back!
This authentic Greek restaurant tucked away in the East Village makes for a great dinner spot. Be sure to make reservations though as seating can be limited, especially on weekends.
A cozy spot in the East Village . We find the authenticity of this rustic , home cooking styled menu very comforting. We recommend the octopus ! It’s outstanding.
Good food and nicely shareable for a group. Great location for hitting up some bars afterwards. Best Greek in the city ? No, but decent for a visit.
I thought greek restaurants could only be semi-trashy. But this place changed my mind. One of the best meals I've ever had and it was at a greek restaurant !
Splitting a bunch of appetizers is the way to go--get the haloumi with grapes , airy meatballs and the trio of dips (taramosalata, tzatziki and melitzanosalata).
Tried all the sides & my fav was the rice pilaf - also liked the scallop , white bean & arugula app - the beet salad was great as well .
Grilled octopus appetizer for all seafood lovers. For main dish I recommend the short ribs . For those inclined for a pasta like dish: pastitsio or moussaka
Delicious! Great variety on the menu. Get the chocolate mousse for dessert ... Best decision ever!
The tzatziki was great and so was the fresh pita . I would pass on the lamb , but the moussaka was delicious.
THE BEST GREEK FOOD IN NYC ! Start with the Horiatiki salad and pick anything else from the menu! After that you will definitely understand why this place is truly the best!
My favorite Greek restaurant in NYC. Food is always top notch. Space is beautiful but it's very crammed particularly on the weekend
One of the best Greek in NYC ! Definitely try their veggie moussaka and the fish of the day !
Great reasonably priced Greek and Med. Food. Definitely make a res for dinner . Cute ambiance. Then go to Big Gay across for ice cream .
Everything here is delicious, especially the octopus , salmon entree and Greek salad .
I went with my Greek friend and let him order. By far the best Greek food I've ever had. This place is a must try.
This place is delish! Home cooked Greek food in a fancier atmosphere. Lemon potatoes side dish is perfect, pitakia cheese pies are really tasty and keftedakia is great too.
Love, love, love. To avoid waiting sit at the community table... Same great food and the added bonus of making new friends.
All the appetizer are great, love the octopus , Greek salad , fried zucchini/eggplant, and Haloumi cheese .
pita bread !!! gotta try their grilled octopus , so good♥ three cheese melt, lamb shank are delish too!
One of the 2 best Greek restaurants in nyc. The lavraki is my fav but you cannot go wrong with anything
Staff rushed us along... we ordered multiple apps and one entree - they literally brought us all the apps at once, almost knocked our water glasses off the table (but they did refill water frequently)
Quality Greek food in a charming space. Pastitsio; anginares moussaka ; htapothi scharas; horiatiki; lamp chops ; krasata paidakia.
Very expensive , but the food is delicious. I really liked the egg noodles with shrimp and scallops
Just remember to leave some space for dessert ! They are simply amazing...

Gold medal worthy post-dinner date spot. Hong Kong Garden is delicious and has a little Yuzu kick. - Mike Friedman
