Located close to the pub is Picardy Place, where the pub's namesake, the great author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was born on 22nd May 1859. Today, an over life-sized bronze statue of Conan Doyle's greatest creation, Sherlock Holmes, stands opposite his birthplace.

Nice pub ,the atmosphere is quite unique to be a Nicholson's.food is good and so the beers (I had a pale ale )...one wrong thing: the double hair coloured waitress ,she is rude, slow and unprofessional!
Cozy place, delicious food and great choice of music .
This place is super good. We had fish and chips and was great!
I have eaten at many of the Nicholson’s pubs . Of course they all have the same menu. Somehow Conan Doyle does it better. The haggis with neeps and tatties was fantastic!
If you're here to try the haggis , have the starters portion. It's exactly the same like the mains, just very slightly smaller in size. I don't think anyone could finish that large a size of the mains.
Good pints good food ,,my fav pub in Edinburgh
️️Steak was majestic, nice interior ❤️
Their Hunter's Chicken Pie was an absolute treat!
Try the Haggis and a pie ! Order the Hawkes if you like ginger beer
Great pub for family dinner and beautiful first night in Edinburgh!
Great and helpful stuff ! Tasty food!
Solid pub with good selection. Less touristy than many.
One of favourite pubs in Edinburgh!!!! Sadly has gone down the pan
Meat lovers should try lamb rump
It's a Nicholson's pub , the staff is really friendly .
Nice historic pub
Cracking old school pub
Good food, good service .
Ambience is good and the food is good too. But the staff is horrible. They are either rude or dumb.
The service is slow and poor.the waitress with double coloured hair is rude, pompous and unprofessional.the pub is fine apart for that person!
What the hell happened to this place! Used 2 be a great boozer with a quality Juke Box Now you can only get a seat if your eating! Only 4 tables if u want a drink. No good used to be a haunt not now
Beer-battered mushrooms were yummy
The food isn't good enough to justify it being £10 a course.
Seems to have had an overhaul recently. Now overly expensive for what is still and very average boozer .
El Rib-eye es realmente bueno así como el salmos
Отличное место. С чудесной энергетикой. Официант вместе со счётом приносит записку с пожеланиями.
Muy buena comida a muy buen precio.muy recomendable.ademas de muy bonito
