Palais Royale Ballroom

You would step out onto a covered porch to look out over the lake with windows that could be opended out to the lake . Stairs led down to the half moon dock on the lake .

Currently used as event space . Go if u have a chance. Perhaps the next time the space is renovated they will restore some of the lost features. In the meantime...... Dream

The basic layout was retained so you can still imagine what the space was like in the 30's & 40's when it hosted regular appearances by the great bands of the day.

The entire wall facing the lake consisted of a row of wooden French doors (no air conditioning back in the day just lots of doors that could be left open for ventalation by lake breezes)

If you do go close your eyes & imagine a larger space (they added a bar & a catering kitchen in the renovation) with a wood floor throughout.

Current space is pretty - Fortuny silk lamps everywhere you look. Unfortunately they carpeted over most of the original wood floor in the renovation so the dance floor is now much smaller.

It is not the same as the pre - fire then renovationed version but it is better than it being torn down & lost forever.
