Rather drab-looking exterior hides a fantastic interior. The largest church dedicated to Mary in all Rome.

I'd say go in the daytime, because we went at night and a lot of the interior was not lit up. I could see where the light from the windows would help. A great church you otherwise!

The las arquitectural work of Michelangelo. A bit forgotten by tourists and a gem amidst too many churches . It has some Vatican artwork and some hidden surprises.

It has the relic of the Holy Crib, shards from the Holy Manger, a piece of the True Cross, and the tombs of St. Matthew, St. Jerome, and Pope Pius V.

Another piece of art . If you want to visit a few churches , this is definitely one of them! Great interior, I stayed there and admired it.

Inside there are lot’s of beautiful and important thing, and all of this is free. The excursion you will be offered for 5 euro for the ‘underground’. It’s a little bit boring, but underground is ok

Interesting shaped church . The main aisle is perfectly cubed.

Do NOT forget to visit Bernini 's grave within the basilica,it's on the north eastern part of the hall and it's on the floor(also a map near the entrance). Also don't step on it :)

Christ and his mother sit enthroned in the circle which represents the Universe , beyond is the gold sky and angels of Heaven.

Big and massive on outside it tends to feel a lot smaller on the inside, basically due to lack of light and dark upper part of walls.
