They have a selfie machine you can use to take an epic photo. So fun- don't ask someone to take your pic, it's worth the effort. Wines are great too!

Beautiful location and amazing wine ! Didn't know about the movie , Bottleshock, before I came but worth the visit. Also part of the Passport tour , so worth getting and pays for itself after 2 wineries .

We had a fantastic wine tasting with Sean, who truly knows this wine and the entire region's. We whole-heatedly recommend a trip to Chateau Montelena for its delicious wine and knowledgable service .

Wines are fine but the prices are inflated. There are many, many equally fine wines and wineries in CA without the steep tasting fees and $50+ per bottle.

Beautiful Chateau! Great Zinfandel . Not particularly fan of their Cabs, but loved their Zin and Chardonnay .

It's a nice environment to walk around. It's strange that there is a Chinese garden with a French themed winery .

The wine history is great but they are doing some great wines at great prices. Try the zin. Also the aged Chardonnay — really.

Chateau Montelena caused a sensation when their 1976 Chardonnay put California wines on the map and beat French wines to take top honors at a Paris blind tasting.

Love the architecture but the tasting was a bit disappointing - rushed and not very knowledgeable - despite not being very busy. Would have liked to learn and see more!

The tasting staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable . We will be back.

Beautiful scenery . The castle is nice to look at and so is the Japanese pond . Unfortunately the wine is not very good.

Check if they are cheating with the tax. They say tx is included in the price just as other wine yards but then adding it anyway to the bill. Nice setting but lousy atmosphere.

Get your hands on the 1997 Merlot , the only year they ever made a Merlot . Rare and simply one of the best.

Winery was the subject of the movie Bottle Shock . Library Tasting offered w/ a reservation and for an add'l fee. Riesling , Chardonnay , & Cabernet .

Be sure to get there 15 minutes early for parking and getting settled before tastings.

Their Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful wine . Highly recommend!

No reason to spend any time stopping here. Scenery pretty but staff , especially our pourer, was not pleasant at all!! So many other vineyards that are much more pleasant to visit!

Try the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon , it's delicious!
