Equestrian trails for hiking (even on foot), and if you feel like staying out of the hills (you're missing a great view though), a paved blacktop track with plenty of backdrop to look at.
You can also enter the park at the South end on Gilroy Hot Springs Rd/Roop Rd at the Mendoza Ranch entrance. It starts 500' higher so less climbing. Great for runners. Great wildlife & Spring flowers
Pack a light picnic and head towards calaveras trail , views are amazing
If you going up the horse trail when you get to the top you can see the whole gilroy valley it's beautiful
