A place that has existed forever, the staff are friendly and work as a team in a way that I've rarely seen. When the place is busy, every customer is every staff person's responsibility. Great food.
Opened in 1962 by Monroe Sorenson. The original location at Rio Grande & Mountain was demolished for a hotel and the restaurant moved to Loma Blvd in 1975.
I absolutely loved the food at Monroe's. Their enchiladas were amazing and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming to Albuquerque. The local beer was great as well !
This sign may have been moved from the original 1962 location, but I’m not sure. The restaurant was bought by Miguel & Kathy Diaz in 1976 and a second location opened in 1985 on Osuna Avenue.
super casual restaurant with really yummy food. recommendations: sopapillas with honey , christmas chicken enchiladas , indian taco (taco toppings on top of fry bread ).
Recommend the chicken and carne adovada enchiladas . Skip the sopapilla dessert (not freshly made ) and the margaritas (no hard liquor license, so they use wine ). Have a beer instead.
Try the Red Chile Cheese Dog , Onions - Red Chile Cheese Dog with Onions at Monroe's New Mexican Food, Albuquerque, NM (via @Foodspotting)
The fajita quesadilla with beef and the taco fingers were nice. The chicken burrito was okay
For visiting NM expats like me, their stewed green chile is great and an easy way to bring the good stuff home.
Blue corn cheese enchilada platter with green or christmas , can't go wrong.
Incredible service. So helpful.
Fan of the green chile chicken enchiladas .
Monroe’s the Best personal service!! Salute!!
Carne adovada is delish, as well as the sopaipillas !
Enchiladas , Fajitas
I always stop here when driving through Albuquerque.
Guacamole is made from 100% real avocado !
I’ve been there multiple times throughout the years, food to me has always tasted bland. Not my style of NM food.
Authentic mexican
Carne adovada stuffed sopaipilla !
Luv their green chile chicken enchiladas
Tastes just like abuela made it!
Seat yourself.
Sweet rolls are great. Breakfast burrito not so much. Try twisters if you want a great burrito. - Don Bennett
Very authentic New Mexican food! Skip the chips and guacamole and ask for extra sopapillas! - Ryan Palmer
One of the best places in Burque for New Mexican food. I suggest the chicharron or chile relleno burrito - Michael Montoya
