Amazing tonkatsu . Get the “Rossu” option which is the fattier pork . The wait isn’t too long. Sit at the bar downstairs if you can. Sometimes they’ll send you upstairs if you’re in a group.
Get the Roast Cutlet , free refills of rice & cabbage . Sit and admire the old guy who doesn’t seem to have a problem with slicing boiling hot pork cutlets with his bare hands. These guys are masters.
Go with the ロース (fattier, tastier, and a bit bigger). Add a skewer (串) which comes with fried onions if you're starving. Miso soup is killer with fatty pork bits. Even the white rice is top notch.
One of the best tonkatsu restaurant on earth. Very authentic . You can enjoy watching well-trained staffs working while waiting. Don't forget to add an extra Kushi-Katsu to your dish. Enjoy!
Tonki is delicious - the ‘rosu’ is juicy throughout and like a good tempura doesn’t feel fried. Worth the wait and with the line forming indoors, a good foodie option for mid-winter.
This place is an institution. They only serve tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet ) and they do it extremely well . Watching the team of chefs is like watching an orchestra play. Go here and enjoy!
Really fkn tender delicious pork katsu , got the fattier one. Didn't disappoint, without being overly fatty . The pork bits in miso is great too. They will refill your tea and shredded cabbage !
Old school katsu that’s different than anything else you’ll get in Tokyo. 30s style long bar on the first floor, exceptionally clean and beautiful inside. Tip: Queue 15 min before it opens at 4.
Atmosphere was nice and authentic . Had the fattier pork cutlet which was actually still surprisingly lean. Skin wasn't the crispiest I've had. Overall not sure what the fuss is about but nice vibes.
AMAZING!! Best tonkatsu I've had in Japan. The staff are so friendly , I highly recommend this place.
Everything about this place! Love it. Come at 4pm when they open to watch the team get into action. Get the fatty option. Mustard is some of the best, goes straight into your nose.
Unique Tonkatsu , but also tasty Tonjiru Miso Soup .
delicious tonkatsu served by a team of super-prepared chefs , a show on its own. A must-try in Tokyo
One of the best tonkatsu I've had. Atmosphere is also very pleasant with the decor adding to the experience.
Fried pork from heaven. Choose Rohsu-katsu, a bit fattier and super tasty. Beautiful place too!
Eater: spacious , clean , & serving tonkatsu same way since ‘39. One choice to make: rosu (fatty ) or hire (lean); takes 20 min to cook; served w/ shred cabbage & mstrd, w/rice & soup ; Wait, eat & leave
I love this place. My father used to go there since he was a younger stage of his life. I always fond of the old lady used to bring me sweets.
Great article on what to expect (and what to order): <aclass="entity url"rel="nofollow" href="http://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2012/05/18/food/tonki-dishes-up-73-years-of-tasty-tonkatsu-success/#.VCatTKbXfCR"target="_blank" data-sig="ZCULS3PVbXMKdlcFbi7O03ZeONs=" onmousedown="fourSq.ui.OutgoingLink.mousedown($(this), event)" data-source="tip-text">http://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2012/05/18/food/tonki-dishes-up-73-years-of-tasty-tonkatsu-success/#.VCatTKbXfCR</a>
Of all the restaurants in Tokyo that serve those ever-popular cutlets of breaded , deep-fried pork — and they number in their thousands — nowhere stands out quite the way Tonki does. Read more
Without a doubt this place gets 5 stars for ambiance and atmosphere. But if you looking for the best, and juiciest Tonkatsu this may not be the place for you.
Their seamless operation is like an artwork. Totally worth visiting. I always order the Kushi-Katsu meal, amazing!!
After ordering the lean and fatty tonkatsu , my preference was for the fatty one. So delicious!
In addition to Tuesdays, it's closed the third Monday of each month.
They have an English menu for those who don't speak/read Japanese. The staff are also extremely friendly and the food is delicious.
Nice service and speedy, great tonkatsu restaurant
Get the fatty cut. The miso also has some pork belly in it. So good 😋
Go here if you want to eat delicious Tonkatsu of traditional Edo style (pork cutlet ) in the Meguro. 3 classics wait for you there with the commander. ★★★
Take the pork with fat. You won't regret it.
When packed wait to eat at the counter to get the best of Tonki's experience :)
Awesome. Just awesome. The dude who's been there for 70 years still works tirelessly and happily.
A neighborhood classic. Get there early to avoid lines
No credit card, only cash . They cannot speak other languages but have an english menu. I recommend you to order with beer .
Kushi katsu is my favorite on this menu!
Best Tonkatsu in Tokyo according to locals.
Dinjiru(miso soup ) is tasty.
Food is OK but be prepared to wait a lot (seats, food...) even with a reservation . Not sure if they are understaffed, poorly organized or if this is part of their branding. Probably won't go again.
Everything

Order rosu (fatty ).
It's legit.
The most famous tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo
Very good food
Tonki is the truth. Delicious.
Katsukura for tonkatsu .
The wait is worth it!
Awesome !!!!
Excellent customer service but I’m just not for this place. Too much volume, too fatty meat.
Read more
ひれ 、ロース 、串カツ 、どれも美味い。ただ美味しいとんかつ なら、他へどうぞ。とんきの とんかつ は唯一無二

Great Tonkatsu in a very intimate setting. Be prepared to wait around 30 minutes or so outside before getting a seat. - Yuri Ramocan
Nice craft beer in this hidden bar. Didn't try the food but looked nice. The interior is modern, mainly made of wood. The list of craft beers is extensive and full of surprises. A good place to visit. - Yoram Cisinski
There are five seats and a public use microwave on B1 in front of seijo-ishi. A good place to eat home made lunches. - Kirsten Adachi
