In term of architecture , this building is boring mix of malay british classical revival colonial style. The rooms are plain & focus on space and air flow. Sadly that the only 1st floor open.

Free entry for Singaporeans and PRs. Then $2 for SG and PRs to enter istana building (with aircon).

Prepare for a queue for enterance. Security checks before entry. Only opens 5times a year. Check the website for the dates.

Formerly known as Government House, the Istana was built in 1867-1869 on the instructions of Sir Harry Saint George Old, Singapore's first Colonial Governor. Built primarily using convict labour.

Big place. Today, the Istana is the official residence of the President of Singapore.

Only 5 times a year is the istana open to public. Go early and enjoy the manicured lawn and open space paid for by tax payees!

Cool recommended for tourist
