Pre-booking your tickets for a guided tour is essential. As limited on the door tickets. Tour takes over an hour and a half. Narrow staircases and cramped rooms. Also special exhibition rooms.
Probably not so good for very young children. Having said that, I really enjoyed it and got to find out about the history of my home town . Very interesting

Great museum that's worth the effort to get to (not too hard from city centre on bus or cab, or easy car parking). Good guided tour, free and nice photo opportunities. - Dave Conroy
