From watching the locals: get the special, order a grilled chicken/pork stick, mix soy sauce and mustard in a little sauce plate, dip the meat in your new sauce, and mix into the special.
We tried the specialty saimin , a steaming, heaping bowl of ham , Chinese cabbage , pork won ton , roast pork and saimin noodles in a hearty pork broth . Also terrific: the teriyaki beef or chicken sticks .
Order "meat sticks," little Hawaii-style kabobs of beef or chicken . For dessert , there's passion fruit chiffon pie and only passion fruit chiffon pie . Have everything on the menu. Read more
For $10.25 you get the extra large special, it tasted really good and the portion was really big. Super local place to go to!
Well worth the trip... Felt like a 1950s asian version of a diner . Total dive. Loved it. The special was like homemade cookin.. Mmm mmm good
From Design Sponge, "Hamura’s Saimin situated on a narrow backstreet in Lihue. This iconic spot has basically gone unchanged since the ‘50’s and the saimin noodles are unmatched any where else."
Get the XL "Special" Saimin (more ingredients, more tasty!). And throw in a BBQ kabob .
If there's a line , wait inside/outside the door. Don't let the crowd turn you away. Excellent saimin (similar to ramen ). Dress casual and be relaxed to fit in. No alcohol (FYI).
Cash only . Fave: Special Saimin XL (split w/friend), chicken stick , lilikoi chiffon pie ; Skip: beef stick
Try the Hawaiian saimin , which is a Hawaiian version of ramen . This place is located near airport so perfect for right after you get arrive!
If you're visiting from the neighborhood islands , buy a box or two of their saimin noodles and lilikoi chiffon pie . Both extremely awesome.
Enter left-side via the ramp. Wait to be seated! Then have the best saimin ever. Fried wontons are great too!
This place is busy all the time! Get the special saimin and save room for the lilikoi chiffon pie for dessert...you won't be sorry!!
Try the Special Saimin - Extra Large Special Saimin !! Perfect on a rainy night!! Followed by Lilikoi Chiffon Pie , of which was gone before I got a picture...
The special saimin comes with won ton , a hard boiled egg , char siu , kamaboko and greens.
I go here at least once everytime I visit kauai . Its a must eat where you can get a real taste of the local people and wonderful local food!
Saimin is Hawaiian comfort food - long, soft, crinkly Chinese-style noodles in a Japanese-style broth, topped with green onion , slices of fish cake , bits of luncheon meat
Really good food and pie . Bill was under $20 for myself and my husband. Would definitely go back.
Best saimin ever...been coming here since 1980 and it hasn't changed!!!
Try the Saimin Special - Fresh, perfectly chewy #noodles , yummy broth... (via @Foodspotting)
A classic spot for locals... hasn't changed much since it's opened, and I have yet to taste a better saimin ....
Their house special saimin is good along with their teriyaki chicken . Not a fan of their wontons (stick to traditional Chinese wontons ).
Extra large Special Saimin is so delicious!
Highly recommend the shrimp saimin with extra shrimp tempura !
Interesting setting. Most of the patrons were locals. The food was good
Best Saimin and Lilikoi Chiffon pie . People make sure they stop there when on the island
Area looks a little sketch at night but the saimin is on point
Save room for lilikoi chiffon pie . It is by far the highlight of this local dining experience!
Order the special saimin . YUM!
Lilikoi chiffon pie for dessert ! Light and jiggly, unlike any pie you've had!
Saimin is Hawaiian comfort food - long, soft, crinkly Chinese-style noodles in a Japanese-style broth, topped with green onion , slices of fish cake , bits of luncheon meat. This spot does it best.
special saimin all the way! don't forget to end the meal with lilikoi chiffon pie
Nothing fancy , but good broth and wontons . Try the lilikoi 🥧
Loved their Won Ton Saimin
We got the specialty saimin . It was fine, but not too exciting. The prices are good here!
Amazing. Don't forget BBQ too
Get the regular saimin . I didn't actually like the beef skewers . Stick with ramen , it's amazing.
My advice: get off the plane and head straight here. The pork buns are amaze.
Saimin is one of the best I have had
Save room for li huing chiffon pie !
I wouldn't come here if I were you. If you are expecting a fine bowl of hot noodle soup , go find yourself an instant noodle soup bowl at a nearby Foodland or ABC Store. It will be better.
Not good for vegetarians ! Except for their chiffon pie which is delicious!
Get it to go if you don't like to eat in stuffy places
2 words - lillikoi pie . Best on the island .
Better to eat there. Noodles get a little soggy in the take-away containers.
Saimin is delicious but don’t forget the pie !
The Won Ton Mein comes in one size but save room for the Lilikoi chiffon pie
Old School, simple Hawaiian Goodness!
Try the special, the beef skewers , and DO NOT forget a slice of Lilokoi Pie !
Try the Saimin Special - I need some Togarashi... This was good, but needs that to kick it up a notch... :)
Simply the best place to shop here. Surf boards, boogie boards, kauai guide books, cheaper kohola rum. Almost everything for your vacation. - Scott Warner
The Brewers Crunch salad was awesome! Lots of beer varieties. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait to come back! - Meagan Van Woert
