神奈川県の歴史、民俗および美術史関係の資料を収蔵する大型博物館 。昭和42年 (1967年)「神奈川県立博物館 」創立。旧館部分は、明治37年 (1904年) 建築 の旧横浜正金銀行 本店本館で、敷地は国指定史跡 および重要指定文化財。外観のよく保存された、すぐれた意匠をもつ 洋風建築 で、明治以降の建築 物をともなう遺跡で国 より史跡 の指定を受けたのはこれが最初である。
2階と3階の常設展は神奈川の歴史が縄文時代から近代までしっかりめの展示 がされてあって見応え充分。甲冑や仏像、それと円覚寺舎利殿の内部実物大復元などもあって予想以上に楽しめた。時間に余裕があったら是非！
横浜正金銀行 本店として 1904 年に完成。妻木頼黄によるネオ・バロック様式の建物。関東大震災を生き延びた横浜の近代建築 は、実はここと横浜市開港記念会館 (ジャックの塔) のみ。
他でも買えますが、売店で売っている化石 チョコ 、なかなかいいですよ。
