Butler Library is a college library West Harlem New York located in United States.
535 W 114th St (btwn Broadway & Amsterdam Ave) New York , NY 10027 United States
The building is nice, always way too packed for my liking, selfish people who leave their stuff for hours at a spot. Always makes me go to graduate lounge . Stacks are like treasure hunt for books .
It gets very quiet and peaceful at night to just walk around the quads. Good stargazing in front of the astronomy building.
First time here? Don't even bother with 209, simply hit 210. Its warm and cozy atmosphere will never make you want to leave Butler.
Check out the group study rooms on 4th floor if you are looking for an isolated place to study with friends.
Camping is frowned upon!!
2nd floor across from the Men's bathroom is a study room ; turn right as you enter and there a super quiet study area attached that has amazing alcoves to hide away in for hours.
Surprised no one's mentioned this yet, but students sometimes hook up in the stacks, or the top floor construction areas... for the Undergraduate population, it's like a right of passage.
Talk to Dwight at the front security desk during the graveyard shift (Wed nt to Sun nt) about the interesting stuff that people do in the library at night.
Wonderful place to study.
First floor study rooms are everything (right hallway passed the guard )
Hunt out one of the study rooms for peace and quiet – perfect for when you’re on a tight deadline.
Packed during midterms, but decent place to study. Go to 4th floor SE Asian studies for desk space and quiet .
Stack level 10 has a huge selection of rad comics & graphic novels
Head to the stacks for minimal distractions (no wifi ). But bring a sweater, the stacks are about 10 degrees colder than the rest of Butler.
Edward Said Reading Room (616 I think) highly recommended
If you're not going to study, get the eff out... Please stop wasting your time and my quiet space. Very simple request.

Great environment to get work done.
Great place. Everyone should try living here for like a month.
If you're pulling an all nighter at least take a study break and watch the sunrise from butler roof - very worth it
Gorgeous library . Almost makes studying tolerable.
Amazing attention in the entrance.
5th and 6th floors are open late through December 20th!
Best space to do serious work.
@Butler Library. Visit the Rare Book & Manuscript Library on 6th floor east!
If you're not going to study, get the eff out... It's very in considerate and damn annoying
If u wanna bring food into butler, hide it in ur bag as u pass the guard
Bone Marrow Drive tomorrow 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Columbia University East Ramp Lounge - Lerner Hall2920 BroadwayNew York, NY 10027
Women bathrooms are not well maintained. I have seen many horrible surprises in the stalls. Tip use bathroom on another floor!
If you happen to find an empty study room , hold on to it like it's the only thing that matters!
Head up to the sixth floor for the best view of the main campus (and some peace & quiet ) Read more
Don't leave your stuff too long, camping is frowned upon.

Nicholas Murray Butler wasn’t arrogant enough to name this edifice after himself. It was originally called South Hall.
great library !
If you are coming, be sure to bring a hoodie or sweater with you. The A/C keeps the place really cold :( - Manuel Bautista
