Named for former President Andrew Jackson, this 542 acre park was the site for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. The park was created by Frederick Law Olmsted & Calvert Vaux, renowned designers of New York City's Central Park.

While you're here, don't miss the Wooded Island , considered one of "150 Great Places in Illinois" by the American Institute of Architects .
Wooded Island in the center of the park is the best part, it is relatively isolated from the noise of traffic from Cornell Dr and Stony Island Ave.

The lagoon is connected to Lake Michigan via Jackson Harbor. If the lake is unseasonably high, the garden floods with some of the walkways going underwater. - Jonathan Ferrera
