The Little Mermaid is a statue depicting a mermaid. Based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, the small, unimposing statue is a Copenhagen icon and has been a major attraction since 1913. It has become a popular target for defacement by vandals and political activists.
Langelinie 2100 Copenhagen Denmark
I went there by bike . The way is very nice specially if you give yourself the freedom to stop wherever your eyes stay for a while. The little mermaid is a symbol, but it's a very touristic area
Pretty cool to see the Little Mermaid, but you'll have to deal with a lot of other ppl and their selfie sticks trying to get a photo. Go check out the lonely Mutant Mermaid .
Best to see in the morning sun. But be careful on Saturday morning before 7:30am - lots of suspicious types - drunks, homeless in the park around
Real symbol of DK. Not that big or impressive (normal human size), but a must-see attraction . Easy to access by bus , tourist bus (double deckers), boat, or 20min walk away from OldTown.
This a beautiful place! Specially in the sunset .. The parks and the castle next that makes it a good plan for and afternoon!
The Little Mermaid was placed on Langelinje in 1913 and is today one of the most visited tourist attractions in Denmark . - It's a must-see when visiting Copenhagen.. if not.. already done.
Wonderful sight. The tranquility of the mermaid sums up perfectly the need to find serenity even in moments of chaos, a concept perfectly realised in the Danish lifestyle.
I didn’t find it as small as I had been told, so I really enjoyed it. The place where it is located is nice to walk by.
People might tell you that it is a long wall to see such a small statue . But I think it is worth it!
The statue itself is famously small and unremarkable - but go anyway for the spectacle of watching masses of tourists posing.
Bit of walk but nice scenery along the way through the pretty castle . Worth visiting
Recommend to go for the sunrise. Small but white magical.
If you have the choice visit near sunset . In the morning the sunrises behind the statue making a good photo difficult
cute little thing! but, a guy who tried to reaching via rocks slipped and hit his head and it was a quite agonizing scene. just take care, its slippery.
Try visiting during late afternoon, not only theres less crowd but also the sunset effect is really fab when taking pictures.
Go in with low expectations and you will be happily surprised!! No need to make a big deal, it is just a tiny statue .
I think it's a very interesting art piece to see in Copenhagen. Do take your time to really absorb the atmosphere.
This is fascinating, but I remain amazed that it's become so very famous. I'm very glad that I made the effort to visit it.
This statue has been vandalised so many times, including having the head chopped off several times, an arm chopped off, it's been blown up and had a dildo stuck to it.
Famous landmark ! Take pictures and scratch it off your bucket list. She's small but lovely. ????
Despite small but it is something really serve as regional landmark . China Great Wall, France Eiffel Tower, US Liberty statute, Egypt Pyramid, and here Scandinavia / Denmark with little mermaid.
OK, so it's not at all impressive, but the walk will do you good. Walk back into town via the botanical gardens for a healthy day.
Nice spot! U can walk/ jogging around the area. A big park around.
It’s a lovely and romantic statue !
If you like to run on your trips, this is a good landmark to run to, as there is a nice park around it and not much else to see in the immediate area.
The Little Mermaid was real disappointment. There are much more beautiful statutes and other nice places in Copenhagen to see...
It's a statue .. 'nuff said.. (game: try to get her picture from a distance without including anyone else in it! It's fun.)
Day 2 - Embarking on our luxury cruise aboard the 'Marina ' in Copenhagen, where the legendary Little Mermaid sits in the harbor welcoming all to Denmark 's friendly capital.
A total tourist trap, but worth the visit once!
Fewer tourists here during the fall. Worth a visit.
She is just so pretty. Hard to take a pic without other tourist in sight :)
Nice statue - lots of tourists though. Parking nearby is limited.
Go see the mutant Little Mermaid statue at the harbor to the north (5 minute walk). Creepier but interesting!
Take a boat trip from the Nyhavn port and you'll see it from the sea????????
Beautiful sculpture facing the river . Envoy the view !
The statue is so Small so go there early morning before the place get to be so crowed
She’s beautiful and you can get close but not a lot to do near by and not quite worth the walk.
People complaining that the little mermaid is little. HAHAHAHHA.
If you miss your chance to take pictures here, there's a replica of this statue after immigration at CPH Airport (Gates C11 and above).
Nice monument to see but is not one of the priority while your are in Copenhagen.
Its a must see. The marmaid seats beautifully on a rock right at the harbour
I have dreams to visit here since in primary school !
Copenhagen = the little mermaid! One of the #1 tourist spot
Sculpture was amazing.
Cold, but worth it. Will the Mermaid be Green all day? Next year for Paddy's day? time will tell. She looked wonderful. Picture to follow.
Kneel down for. Better perspective for your photos.
Do you believe in Mermaids? Believe it or not Copenhagen has one just right at the sea. OK it's a statue but one of the most photographed sights in Copenhagen.
Good to have a look at the bronze arial
A must see in Copenhagen. Just so you can say you've seen her.
The mermaid is beautiful. The view isn't.
A bit hidden from the other sights in the city, but worth visiting when strolling around the area - Louise H
