The Pestsäule/Dreifaltigkeitssäule in the middle was built in 1723. The column is a memorial to the victims in plague epidemics.
Basically the very center of Linz. From here you have easy access to the main shopping street ('Landstrasse') and the old town ('Altstadt'), with all the shops and bars .
One of the most famous pieces in the classical repertoire is devoted to this river - have a walk along the beautiful Danube and check it out yourself!
Not sure where to go out tonight? Start from the Hauptplatz and check out the numerous bars and clubs in the small streets nearby.
there's always some event going on here. been there for Art street performance and Kronen Festival (some music festival )
Saturdays flea market is usually worth a visit!
Despite being the central square, is pretty quiet and not to crowded .
Spend 2-3 hours in the Inner stadt.

Great fun for kids, we enjoyed the robot section on the lower ground floor. also the restaurant on the third floor does great cheap food with views over the Danube. - 3djamie
