Built in 1925 as a single screen movie theater , holding 1,200 people, by architect Lewis A.Smith, the man who built the Vista Theatre in Los Feliz. Inside is a mix of Baroque & Egyptian design.
This is the theater featured in the Robert Altman’s “The Player” where Tim Robbins meets his victim and kills him behind the building.

It's been deemed unsafe by the fire department and is closed. Sad to see such a cool theater in this state . Hope it gets fixed, but I'm not holding my breath. These places are a dying breed.
