The Bonaventure Cemetery was established in 1846 as a private cemetery on the site of the old Bonaventure Plantation, birthplace of future Georgia governor Josiah Tatnall.
Love, love, love this cemetery . Must see! I could spend a whole day or more here! Beautiful mausoleums and famous head stones here. The Bird Girl has been moved to the Telfair Museum .

Nice place to go to but Père lachaise is so much more special and way older. Still good to spend a few hours though
A man named Shannon Scott does GREAT secular tours focusing on the history of Savannah and it's more notable residents. His co. is called Bonaventure After Hours - highly recommend.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! It's like a museum instead of a cemetery . It's also huge so make sure you get a map!
Off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip! Ethereal, beautiful, picturesque, and unlike anyplace else I have ever been. The highlight of my trip to Savannah.

This is such a beautiful place, we were there between 2 - 3 hrs. Little Gracie grave was beautiful. A must see!

The Bonaventure Historic Society offers a FREE walking tour of the cemetery every 2nd Sunday of the month. Tours : 2, 2:30 and 3PM.
Fun tour , interesting history but don't wear shorts . The bugs/gnats will eat you alive!
Johnny Mercer 's grave is back toward the river . Sit on the bench and hum a few bars .
Stop in and visit Little Gracie Watson. She died of a pneumonia at 6 years old, two days before Easter. Say a prayer for her.
