Take a free Capitol Tour . All tours leave from inside the South Foyer. Led by an expert guides the tours generally depart every 20 to 30 minutes and last for approximately 30 minutes.
Fun facts: As u enter thru the front doors the cities on the marble flr r all the battles fought in Tejas/Texas and the confederate seal & is comprised of cotton, tobacco, corn , and rice . Now u know!

There are a lot of interesting things to see here! I recommend the self-guided tour as you'll see a little more that way. If you want some history though, listen in on a tour guide.
Open on weekends until 5pm. Check out the broadway type lights in the Texas House and Senate and the ornate door hinges. Everything is bigger... And brighter in Texas!

The rotunda is stunning. I basically was able to just walk in after going through really quick security. The whole place was welcoming and beautiful!

Really admire the architecture in this building. It's quite lovely! Get to the top and look down at the emblem design on the floor.
I love this building, especially the star on the top. From far you can't see "Texas" word, but if you see it closely you can read "Texas" word around the star. Must visit place in Austin!

Take a free tour : the red granite dome , topped by the Goddess of Liberty, is 6 feet taller than the U.S. Capitol. The best photo opportunities are sunrise and sunset .
Great so learn something about the Texas Gouverneurs and the history. Sadly the gift shop is closed after 5pm on Saturday.
Beautiful building, nice paintings of the Texan governors around the walls, look up and down for the dome's interior and the mosaic on the floor.
If you haven't done it, you MUST stand in the center of the rotunda, look up, and speak softly. It is the most awesome your voice will ever sound! You don't need to speak loudly .

Free guided tours every half hour, lots of outdoor monuments to see. And pay attention to the door hinges - very neat.
Morbid fact: The painter of the star inside the dome fell when his seat broke while painting . He shattered the floor, which was, at the time, made of the glass tiles that you now see in the library .

Texas Capitol at 9 minutes drive to the south of Smiles of Austin
The largest state capitol building in the United States , the Texas Capitol was constructed from 1882-1888. It is built of limestone and pink granite . The granite came from nearby Marble Falls.
On Sunday's the entrance is free. Pretty cool looking place, beautiful for wedding photoshoot
Really cool views from the dome and the grounds are really beautiful! Don't try to take a picture with George Bushs portrait, you will get yelled at.
If you're on a bike , you can ride through the grounds for a nice view and moment away from the traffic. It's only closed off when the legislature is in session.
Go at night. Good things happen at the Capitol at night :)
