The building was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 30th May 1991.The £34 million building was constructed in time to host the World Student Games, hosting concerts, ice shows, theatre style shows, ice hockey, sport, exhibitions and conferences.

It's a good arena . Excellent location next to the motorway. Big car parks near the entrances and only £5 if bought in advance too. The Arena itself is fine with good access and viewing points.
If at a gig and lucky enough to be seated/standing on the floor - get next to the sound guy! Will get a decent view , somewhere to lean against and the best sound in the venue!
The ant and dec Saturday night takeaway live show was amazing!
Been to westlife & now JlS and both concerts were brilliant....pity not more toilets tho as queues were extremely long but that aside great place to see concerts & shows
Ice hockey games are quite entertaining and organizational skills in there are smooth!
A soulless rectangular box. Not bad for gigs if you’re standing or have a seat fairly close to the stage. But it needs free Wi-fi as it’s pretty much impossible to get into a phone network.
A very good indoor arena, with surprisingly good acoustics . Staff were excellent.

Drinks £4 for unknown brand of lager or £8 for "supa lager " yup it's spelt like that, it's roughly 2 pints, but what do you expect for arena booze?!
