門名については、昔この辺りに清水が湧き出ていた。また、古くはこの辺りに清水寺があったことから、清水門と呼ばれるようになったと言われいます! 清水門入ったところの階段、一段の段差が高くてキツイのだが、東側と西側で段差が違う。奥側西方の方が段差控え目で上り下りが若干楽。
清水徳川家といえば、映画 『雷桜』での岡田将生 くん演じる貴公子でしたね。たしか最後は御三家の紀州徳川家を継いだっけ。
