It's cliche, but I don't think I've had a better Japanese sushi centric meal in NYC. Went for a special occasion & it beat expectations. If you love Neta's combo of sushi & kaiseki & have cash to burn
Go for the kaiseki vs the omakase , it's 17 pieces of sushi instead of 20 but the little plates that come before sushi and the dessert course are completely worth it!
Omakase-only sushi bar Shuko is dark and intimate , complete with a dining cave . Expect simple, classic preparations, and the occasional truffle encrusted sushi roll or caviar-topped lump of toro . Read more
Chef Jeff had two dinners before meeting Dev at Carbone, and this was the first. He went in to say hi to “his friend Nick” tries the tuna , and ends up ten courses into the tasting menu . [Episode 5] Read more
Grab a bite at NYC's newest restaurant . It hosts a 20-seat sushi counter where diners will be served a set menu of 12 to 15 courses by both Kim and Lau. Read more
If you can handle a big meal, go for the kaiseki . You get the omakase and some amazing additions. Milk bread with tuna tartar with caviar ????????. And they play mostly hip hop . Pricey too.
Sushi nigiri were fresh and tasty. The rolls and small dishes have a bit of fusion twist to it, so that was refreshing. Good music and vibe. No kaiseki on the menu for the time being. Nice bathrooms .
My personal favorite omakase experience in the city . Fish , flavors, vibe, music , service, sake served in Zalto glasses... 10/10 across the board.
Love this place, come here at least once a month! Best omakase in NYC, hands down. Worth the money and better than some other more expensive spots. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is ideal.
Talk to anyone who eats or cooks for a living and many will profess an devotion to all things sushi . Count me as a member of that group. I’m happiest sitting in front of chefs Jimmy Lau and Nick Kim. Read more
Kaiseki comprises great to nearly incredible dishes. Shockingly large amount of food, too, making the $200 tag surprisingly reasonable. Service is attentive, although could be refined. Top NYC spot.
I’ve had both sushi omakase and kaiseki and continue to go back for the sushi . Great rice ! Hip hop music . Great selection of sake , beers and cocktails . Tops, recommended.
In the conservative world of sushi , SHUKO is pushing the genre forward with little more than gentle nudge.
One of the best. Incredible quality sushi that literally melts in your mouth, plus the music - Hip-Hop driven - is so on point! A fave!
Been following these guys from masa to neta to shoku popup to here. Come hungry and get the 15 course. Cocktails early and sake later. Chat up your chef and get a second round of Hokkaido uni. A+++
This was the best sushi I've ever had. Added "extras" to the omikase and it was worth it. Sake sommelier super helpful.
People talk about the apple pie , but the citrus granite did it for me. Sadly, if you go the kaiseki route, which you should, you'll have to forgo the uni flight that comes in the omakase .
an incredible kaiseki : some courses so good, I ate them so very slowly to keep the flavor going long. if you are able, reserve the private table downstairs for your crew.
Shuko often only serves about two pieces of the meaty delicacy as part of the menu, which Kim grills over the binchotan and places in a hammock of nori . The texture is pure foie gras . ★★★
This place will go out of its way to accommodate the super rich even if it's at the expense of your special evening.
Skip the uni optional add-on, kinda pricey at $115. You do get uni later on during the omakase . Beverage pairing was so good!
Overall very positive. Those expecting true kaiseki should either order the omakase or adjust their expectations, but quality and taste were excellent. Service apropos for EV but not NYC's best.
Out comes a parade of sushi , though the chefs identifying their creations don’t always make themselves heard over Drake or Jay Z. Guessing games ensue: “Did he say scallop sperm?” Read more
Exceptional kaiseki . Sit at the sushi bar by jimmy and be prepared to chat, covering all topics from fish buying to wilderness survival to career aspirations.
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Say yes to everything.
Comparable sushi to Japan itself, only offers omakase menus but it's probably the best sushi in NYC
Sublime sushi . Great spot if you have the budget. - the foodie magician
SPICY LOBSTER SUPPLEMENT IS A MUST
Best sushi in New York. Full stop.
My favirite@Omakase in nyc! Very cool music and the best sushi !
Spicy foods and hot dishes and ICE
Talk to the chefs - they are friendly and insightful
Ask for Jimmy. Let him decide what you eat.
The beer selection pairs well with dinner .
Literally everything, please eat here.
My favorite omakase experience
the kaiseki is a LOT of food. plan accordingly.
crazy expensive but cool vibes inside
Best omakase in the city
Best omakase in NY!
My fav omakase experience ????
Great sushi , but over priced.
EVERYTHING
It is probably a bit too overpriced but still a good experience
The service and food had consistency issues.
Perfect omakase
Amaaaazing sushi and throwback hiphop ????
Tasting $135; kaiseki $175
The omakase & uni
Epic sushi omakase
The katsu toji is one of the best things I've ever had, it was amazing. The ambience is nice and tips aren't required so you have a set price. - Stephanie Sharpless
2022 Michelin Guide 1 Star - Paolo Barone
great after work spot for a sophisticated beverage. best on rainy days. can't wait to go back. - Brandon Gerena
The service and atmosphere are only topped by the excellent selection of wines. The food pairing is terrific too. - Carlette Peters
