It's a long drive to get there but worth it. Dress warm because this is the windiest area in the pacific coast and it gets really cold. There's a half a mile walk from parking , dogs are not allowed.
Well worth the drive out! Spectacular views ! Just be mindful of the time of day as they close the steps going down to the light house @ 4:30. rangers do a nice job explaining some interesting facts.

The stairs to the lighthouse close if the winds exceed 40mph, but the walk down / up isn't too bad and a worthwhile effort.
Foggiest and windiest place on the West Coast. Lighthouse is closed T/W/Th and the 301 stairs down to it are closed when winds are over 40mph. Lighthouse is .4 miles from parking area.
Just over 300 steps down to the lighthouse from the parking lot . Makes for a good workout on the way back!
Learn about the history and function of the lighthouse from a Ranger at the lens room from 2:30 to 4pm.
