Do the full four mile hike across the crater . It's unbelievable... Like you're on a different planet. Excellent workout too. Just be ready for some serious uphill work.
Beautiful and fairly short hike . Bring lots of water and sunscreen , as it gets hot in the crater . Lots of switchbacks through the rainforest are a welcome cool off.
It's worth purchasing the Trail Guide for 2$ at the trail head. It points out various information marked along the way with numbers, like geological background of the crater , plants and animals.
It's a 2 hours hike (round trip) from the crater rim to the black crater floor. Watch hot steam coming out of the ground. Take enough water with you.
Bring lots of water and sunscreen . Also good hiking shoes will save your feet. If you go into the crater , you will be isolated, so be prepared.
