This Tokyo-imported Holy Grail of tempura serves just 2 (!) menu items: Tempura whitefish or fried eel + shrimp , scallops , drippy yolk fried egg , all heaped on sticky rice , covered in sweet soy sauce . Read more
We recommend the tendon , rice bowl with tempura , expressive of the roasty, nutty flavors of the expensive sesame frying oil, of the subtle sweetness of prawns and Tokyo eel . Read more
Pro tip for vegetarians : with the new menu the plates with only veggie tempura are no longer displayed, however they will make #1, #10, #12 with veggie tempura instead of shrimp . Just ask.
I think the whole eel is worth the extra $4, but you can't go wrong with either! This place is the real deal.
Delicious! I had the eel bowl , the egg is a nice umami addition and combines perfectly with the rice and sweet soy sauce
Really nice delicate batter, perfect soft boil to accompany a surprisingly substantial piece of fish . This ones good! **Nosh , nosh **
Really tasty tempura that just happens to be in a food court . Get the Shrimp Ten Don.
Probably my favorite tempura place... Delicious shrimp and anago tempura !
Great value for the awesome tempura
Tempura plate is the best!!
Faves: Tendon w/eel; Skip: to-go, even if 10 mins away. Fresh is so much better
Highly recommend the combo with sukiyaki .
Try the original. Lil bit of fish and other non fish stuff. All super bomb.
Don't miss the battered soft-cooked egg . It's a wonderful bit of Fryolator magic: Read more
Try the Tokyo style Anago #1 and Tempura shrimp #4.
It's hard to pass up Santouka when at Mitsuwa, but give the tendon a try.
Don't waste your time thinking about anything else, and get to eatin' the #1 Anago Eel Bowl . Sooooooo wooooooorth iiiiiiiiit...
Great tempura !
Order an extra egg . After eating here you pretty much will only want tempura from this place and this place only.
Edo-Style Ramen w/ Anago
They've updated their menu. More good stuff!
Mmm...tempura
"The shrimp tempura-don."
Inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace's food court, the signature shio (salt tonkotsu) ramen is excellent. The soy marinated chashu pork is as tender and sweet as pork gets. - Serious Eats
My favorite noodle store in Mitsuwa...I always get the curry udon with a salmon onigiri for a snack later - Tamikx
Delicious handmade while you wait Omusubi. Same great rice balls as the original Santa Monica location, but with more space and expanded menu offerings! - Jonathan Wells
Top sushi with pleasant ambiance. Service efficient and courteous. - Michael Berude-Lund
Beef Udon and a bowl of rice. Ramen set with pork rice. Don't miss the Roll Cakes adjacent to the Sake. - Eva Snyder
Chicken satay, phad kee mao, tom yum soup. They are serious about spice here! Excellent service. - Timothy Hong
