OMG! This food was sooooo good. Delicious! I had the Mac and cheese , greens, and fried chicken . They welcome you with a piece of cornbread , which was excellent, when you are seated. Very nice touch.

One of the most friendly places in Charlotte, a great way to start a weekend is with breakfast at Mert's. I like the southern faire : fried whiting fish and eggs & fried green tomatoes .

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday, we loved it. They pride themselves on having great food, not the best waiter/waitress service; the food made up for it though. Peach cobbler is a must have!

The food here was pretty delicious. The catfish I had was EXCELLENT but their collards weren't that great. The Mac and Cheese is also a great choice. Also their cakes are GREAT.

Their cornbread is delicious. I've only ordered their fried chicken . The wait can be long sometimes so be sure you are in no hurry if you go here.

The Shrimp and Grits are a must have. Get as much cornbread as you can because no restaurant does it this good. Shrimp Creole was amazing, have plenty of sweet tea to wash it down though.

Recommend the biscuits with honey butter and the home fries which are actually roasted potatoes . Had the smoked pork chop special and it was small but delicious.

The ambiance is almost as good as the food! Try their Red Beans & Rice !

Incredible cornbread ! Had the soul sampler. Chicken fingers are way too salty. Beef ribs are smokey and tender. Friendly staff .

The food is just average. The salmon cakes I had were barely seasoned. The macaroni n' cheese was good. The sweet tea was ok. Service was good but I probably won't go back during my stay in Charlotte.

Huge disappointment in this establishment as the food was average at best. I noticed that most of the positive comments were made a few years ago, so I can only assume the quality has gone downhill.
