Fort Walker is mostly just a big, weirdly-shaped hill that's the ruins of part of the fortification of Atlanta in the Civil War. It has an amazing view of the Atlanta skyline and nice picnic tables .
This Civil War fort was named after Gen William H T Walker who was killed at approx noon on July 22, 1864 during the Battle of Atlanta.

The CSA lost a great General on this spot in July 22nd. Fort Walker in the SE corner of Grant Park was named in his honor. General Hugh Mercer took command of Walker's troops after his death. - Oakland Cemetery
