E 88th St (at E End Ave) New York , NY 10028 United States
Built in 1799, mayoral residence since 1942. Unlike most historical houses, it's a place where history is made, not merely recorded. Check out Norman Rockwell's original 4 Freedoms in the Wagner Wing
After Gracie sold his house, the property eventually was appropriated by the City of New York in 1896 and the 11 acres that came with the home would later be formed into Carl Schurz Park .
Shipping tycoons, like Archibald Gracie, built their houses along the water to show off their wealth, however Gracie had to sell his house in 1823 due to financial failure.
Definitely something that should be on everyone's NYC bucket list. So beautiful & filled with art&history. The backyard & grounds behind allows you to have a great view of the Robert F. Kennedy bridge
Gracie Mansion was built in 1799. A different building was commandeered by George Washington on roughly the same site during the American Revolutionary War, as it strategically overlooked Hell Gate.
A must see as you walk along the bike promenade/path on the Upper East Side. The path itself is a great way to get exercise and see the sites across to Roosevelt Island and Randall's Island .
Love walking in this entire park , specifically past the Mansion and by the water.
In 1801, Alexander Hamilton called a meeting of fellow Federalists here, in order to raise money to publish the newspaper now known as the New York Post.
You might be surprised to know that this is a public museum , but you can, in fact, tour the current residence of the de Blasio clan. Read more
