Dohány Street Synagogue is a synagogue Zsidónegyed Budapest located in Hungary.
Budapest Dohány u. 2. (Wesselényi u.) 1074 Hungary
The world's largest synagogue outside of New York. Has both Romantic and Moorish architectural elements. Contains a holocaust memorial room relating to the events of 1944-45.
Biggest synagogue in Europe, really amazing on the inside. It has a Jewish Museum and a Memorial to the Victims of the Nazi and Soviet dictatorships. You can have a guided tour . It's worth a visit.
Beautiful building, moving memorial and a lovely sculpture at the back. Perhaps not enough to see for the money. Maybe do the tour if you're really interested in the story and history.
The 2nd biggest synagogue worldwide, it's construction was commissioned to a Gentile and (vaguely) designed according to the biblical descriptions of Salomon's Temple . Tours are recommended and cheap
Excellent private tours offered! Wonderful neolog example. Good Budapest ghetto exhibition on.
Must see in Budapest. Beautiful synagogue , largest in Europe, with unique genius loci and important message fir the visitors
A lot of details about Jews religion and history revealed during walkthrough. This synagogue style is remarkable and outstanding. And history is amazing.
Even though little higher price, it's nice history place with guides. Mass burial with more then 2000 corpses was intense.
Known as the Great Synagogue , this Moorish-style building was completed in 1859. It is among the largest temples in the world.
Entrance fee is 3000 forints.Add 700 forint for a group guide. Well worth it !
Beautiful! Free tours with your ticket. Museum included. Rich and interesting history that is so so important.
The Jewish muzeum is very small. The sinagogue and the garden are nice, BUT it's definitely not worth 4000HUF (≈€15).
The Synagogue is closed in the winter for worship and only open to tourists , as it's not heated. As such, you'll want to bundle up before the tour - sitting in there for 30mins is fa-reezing!
The interior is really beautiful but in my opinion the entrance is overpriced. If you are really a synagogue lover or have never been into one, then you should visit.
Once you are in Budapest, it's a must to see. Amazing tours
Synagogue is absolutely amazing but I think the charge is too high. We paid ~45 EUR (payment in HUF with spread-free card) for a family of five.
Breath taking, the world largest Synagogue , Baruch HaShem, He granted me to visit this place
Closed to tourists on Saturday and early on Friday. Take the tour for the best experience. We were introduced to the Sunday market by our guide.
Biggest in Europe. Quite nice but with a pricey ticket. 4500 huf
Tour guides here are really knowledgeable - don't pass up a free tour !
Rather expensive , but the experience is quite unique
Must see and feel this beautiful place.
It costs €24 to enter this religious place where most places around the world doesn’t cost this much. Even Vatican is cheaper. Don’t go.
Take the tour ! Excellent guides!
Nagyon szép megéri megnézni | really beautiful synagogue worth a visit
Good guided tour . Beautiful Synagogue .
Closes early on Fridays. Costs 3000 Hft for entry. Beware of lots of 'tour guides' outside offering alternative services.
Incredibly beautiful but incredibly expensive .
It was of a must see place for me #12tribe
Huge disappointment and felt like a total ripoff. Museum was closed (no info on it) and yet the price was still double compared to any other museum or exhibition in places double the size of this one.
2000 HUF for students, no student card needed
Beautiful big synagogue .
Ticket is a bit overpriced.
There is a different energy. Charming...
Closes early on Friday & closed Saturday.
Beautiful ????
like not love
It is really beautiful, but the Jewish Museum is not worth it. Too expensive for what you get. Don't recommend at all.
There are two other nearby for 2 euro each. Skip this and visit other two. Dont return hat to them.
Honestly speaking, a bit boring
It’s not worth it!
Uncoordinated services, long waits and overprized.
They reuse the hat. Don't wear if u don't want catch lices.
Overpriced, nothing special to see. It's not worthy.
Very beautiful and interesting places to visit. It gives you an insight what these people have been through in difficult times... - Elizabeth Van de Moortel
