this beach is clean and less crowded ... because it costs $12 a person to go to. get a LIRR summer deal, which includes round-trip train fare and the beach pass for a bit cheaper if you're traveling in
Easy, fun family friendly day trip. Round trip LIRR train ticket to Long Beach includes beach pass for less than $25. Go early to avoid crowds, train ride is about 60min. BYO beach gear, food, drinks.

I've been living here for 20 years. Must check out a few things here. The Beach , Swingbellys BBQ , Nuts and Sweets, The Boardwalk , and the night life (strip of bars )in the west end.
For years locals have known that the waves were the finest on all of the East Coast but now they are getting the credit they deserve for surfing waves challenging enough for any rider, amateur to pro.
29/10/2012 The disconnected New York after the hurricane "Sandie". Because of a hurricane the emergency shutdown of electricity occurred not only in New York, but also in other regions of the country .
Long beach has a better infrastructure compared to nearby beaches (Rockaway Beach and Jones Beach ). It's easy to get there by LIRR train from Penn Station . There are plenty of restaurants & bars .
Love the ambiance and atmosphere of this place. Stay away from the huevos rancheros unless you are feeling adventurous. Love the wall decor. Definitely going back!
The beach is clean and very maintained so its nice to be there. There is 15$ entrance fee. But it worth it
Welcome to Long Beach, if you take the LIRR walk to the left or right and walk a few blocks when get the beach. Then you wont have to sit on top of each other
If you come after 1pmish, check the trash cans, you'll find enough to make a meal for a family of four, or one hungry adult! No need to bring stuff!
This beach is really clean and a little closer to the city , not usually as crowded as Jones beach , so it's a nice alternative!
If you buy admission tickets with your train package you need to line up and have them converted to another beach access ticket. Pretty annoying on a hot, hot day #firstworldissues
Moonlit walk under the stars at midnight, refreshing salt mist as you walk barefoot, is heavenly and calms the soul. Sweet serenity and simplicity. Nothing beats it.
Clean beach with a nice long boardwalk . If you're coming from Penn Station NYC, be sure you leave before 9:30am because the masses of people jumping on those trains on a hot summer day are insane.
Cross the street from the LIRR station and walk a few streets down the Boardwalk to get away from the crowds. Cost $12 to get in, but you can get a train ticket & admission fee for a bit of a deal.
Arrive early and avoid the crowds or later in the day and have an early dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby.
Very nice beach with clean bathrooms , chairs and umbrellas available to rent and food trucks . $12 entrance fee.
New boardwalk (well , the part of it already rebuilt) opened up a week ago or so. Is awesome.
One of the best public beaches near NYC
Beautiful, clean beach , upscale bars , plenty of parking space . It's just awesome!
A public beach that charges $12 admission fee. Um, ok. You can get a "Beach Getaway" LIRR ticket for $22 that includes round trip train and beach admission, saving $8. New Foursquare is awful.
Get here before 9 and they will never ask for your beach pass even if they are in kiosk
Easy day trip from the city . The beach is great, the town on the beach ... Not so much.
Grab the combo ticket at the booth at penn station or you'll be lining up to pay 12
Love long beach. Just don't sit on the lifeguard chairs at midnight, the cops that patrol at night, always have an issue with that. Smh ...
Stunning location to have a special family gathering. Like a civil ceremony!
Shit Show. There's localism among the locals themselves! I've heard threats in the water, intimidation and a couple of fists thrown. Best before dawn and right before dusk (in the winter).
Beach it up during the day and head west for the nightlife. The Inn , The Beach House, and Minnesotas are the top bars . Don't swim if the lifeguards aren't there. Seriously, stop doing that.
Easy ride on the LIRR from Penn Station drops you off just blocks from the boardwalk .
Is always good , when you have good friends and nice weather .... And having all LBPD and life guards around make it safe
If you want to move away from the crowds of Jones Beach , then go to Long Beach. Fine sand and the waves aren't rough.
The cost is $12 pp but its well worth it. You can now use cash or credit card to pay.
Before hurricane sandy long beach was a great area. After the rebuilt it will once again become better.
Amazing place to be
Great town lots of great restaurants , and close to several malls and movie theaters .
Mother nature seems to turn on the high tide around 415-5pm...waves 6ft over tall! AMAZING!
For Volleyball Leagues...good to arrive early to warm up.. and check out the competition of course!!! Jeje
Clean beach , very close to parking lot , not too much crowded , but $12 per person little too much...
If you get a round trip beach special ticket from NYC Penn Station you get discounted $1 admission to the beach otherwise its $12 admission to the beach
It's really nice and clean but there is an entrance fee
Buy your beach pass at NY Penn or be prepared to pay $12 cash!
Beautiful view but the vibe is just dressed up trash. Not a classy beachfront (though it does try hard to be).
Beautiful weather clean air. Nice boardwalk reserved for me and my wife only :-)
Make sure to take a run on the boardwalk ! It's a beautiful thing :-)
About $13 admission but far cleaner than the beaches nearby
Best place to live on the Island
Bring big repellent! And also buy me a drink!
Nice clean beach . There was a lot of ppl but it didn't feel overcrowded.
The best city escape within short train commute. :-)
Beautiful! The new boardwalk looks so nice and the beach is simply refreshing - Samantha C
Really built up over the years. It appears they now have a volleyball court, umbrella and chair rentals, and newer bathrooms/showers. Have to leave the beach for bathroom now though. - Emily Basile
weekends when the weather is nice are SOOO busy! but a Tuesday is prime. try a weekday to avoid the crowds (train included). - Mary M Motta
