Ate in the prep kitchen and was very impressed! Almost like Girl and the Goat in their modern and unique takes on everyday and comfort food . Totally different yet very recognizable. Loved it.

Make sure you do a tasting menu and ideally in the Prep Kitchen . Ignore the naysayers confused by a casual concept. The fried chicken with sun choke salsa is amazing.

J.R. Reed

cool spot w/ a hip ambience and Top 40 tunes ; it’s hard to pass up the fried chicken but the shishito peppers and octopus are great appetizers . Unpopular take but you can ditch the chickpea fritters .

Stephanie Jackson

They were out of the steak & eggs and burger by 1p so get there early if you want the goods!! Delicious chicken + waffles and bacon , though. And the aged cheddar rillettes ! ???? Also the music is ????

Meredith Blechman

Go all in for the pre-set menu, but be sure to come hungry. Five courses is really like 20 dishes, all of which are incredibly unique and inventive, and absolutely delicious. PS no substitutions!

Adam H.

Grant Achatz does it again! The duck 5 ways is absolutely incredible. Hushpuppies foie gras and duck toast were also mind-blowing. Don’t miss out on this gem while in Chicago.

Travis Tindell

Chicken and waffles were great. Amazing take on the biscuits and gravy . Milk and Cookies for dessert ! Cool place.

Amy Robertson

A relatively casual atmosphere for a higher end restaurant . I would describe the food as luxury comfort food in the best possible way.

Bianca

The aged cheddar rillettes , the chicken waffles and the peach desert … are a must try. Really, all is great, one Michelin star and more.

The Bartender 's Amaretto Sour is made with Lazzaroni Amaretto , Cynar 70, black truffle , lemon and egg white . The moment it hit my tongue , I felt an uncanny blast of nostalgia. Read more

The chicken is amazing!! Also, Aged cheddar rillettes, spicy cucumber salad . You cannot go wrong. Snag a seat at the Hearth !!

Jon B.

One of the best meals I have had in Chicago. The steak with shaved truffles was outstanding.

Garry Tan

The wagyu was epic. So was the crab rice .

Dan Money

Good, but was expecting a lot more. The three dishes & two cocktails I had all had some interesting elements but didn't feel any were properly balanced. Didn't feel Alinea Group pedigree of excellence

jiresell

The food here is outstanding! Very creative, large portions . Try the duck !

Ashley von Kluck

Amazing meal! Loved the aged cheddar rillettes , octopus , and half chicken .

Chris Shackleton

The tomato soup and fried chicken are the stars of the show besides the top shelf service.

Chet Mancini

Get hearth reservations . Flawless food and service but still casual . The duck is amazing.

Chicago Tribune

A messy, brash, noisy and primal restaurant where an open hearth fuels most of the cooking and plate presentation only occasionally catches chef Andrew Brochu's attention. Read more

The chicken 3 ways is the most phenomenal fried chicken you will ever have.

Tickets on TOCK. MUST order the chicken !! And the double daiquiri !

Try to do the Hearth menu if possible!

Colin Lee

Fried chicken is fantastic; top tier quality

Vincent Quan

Go for the broccoli and beef . Really delicious side dish.

Tim Deng

Grant Achatz’s affordable restaurant . It’s really good.

Lu H

Maple poached salmon !

Sit at the counter and get to see the extremely talented team at work!

Shannon Jeropke

Roister was nominated for Best new restaurant for the 2017 James Beard Awards.

Sherry

Family-style dining with great selections that are not "ordinary".

Carlos Butler

The chicken sandwich is as good as everyone says it is

venu vasudevan

Huge fan of Grant/Alinea/Aviary. Roister doesn't keep up. Great service, super nice servers and staff . But based on their $85 tasting menu , Trenchermen outperforms at half the price.

Laura Staley

Sit in the prep kitchen if you can!

Nate Ellis

Great fried chicken

Bethany Crystal

Dinner vibes

Stephen Mangan

Restaurant concept and creativity of food leading up to final course, but dissapointing finish. You dont go to a Grant Achatz tasting for a Fried Chicken , Grilled Chicken & chicken combo .

Marc Asghari

Only the fried chicken - not really worth going

J

Beware if you have bad allergies - they are not aware/prepared. Chicken three was was good. Same with the duck . Proteins/bigger plates were much better than the starters. Proportions overall were big
