Get the hot wurst platte to share! It is a TON of food, so you might not even need an entrée. The mustard is super spicy but tasty! The jaegerschnitzel is delicious as well .
A must dine while visiting Indy, this Bavarian themed restaurant is housed in a beautiful, ornate structure with moose heads adorning the walls. The jaegerschnitzel is fantastic!
Definitely worth the price. You get a ton of food, and there are PRETZELS in the bread baskets ! The mustard that comes with is VERY spicy horseradish . Delicious. Apple strudel for dessert !
ROULADEN (Beef rollup filled with bacon , onions , spicy mustard and tart pickle wedge slowly cooked for tenderness and topped with homemade brown gravy ), with sauerkraut , German potato salad
The Ayinger Celebrator Double Bock is a don't-miss for dark beer fans! Authentic German atmosphere and dishes but plenty of non-German food for any diners who are mostly there for the drink.
Be careful dipping your pretzel , this stuff is extremely spicy ! The Rathskeller also has a phenomenal German and European beer selection .
The haute wurst plate, Mager Cider , and Rathskeller Amber were all wonderful!!! Beware of spicy mustard -- is delicious but hot!!! The tables in the back of the restaurant are lovely!!
They need to take one of the two tops out of the bar . I have fat dude behind, can't fit in his own space, so I have to put up with his every move Telegraphing into the back of my chair!
The bar tenders in the beer garden are frequently wrong about their stock of some of the more exotic imports. Visit the bar inside for the real story.
The Germans, as it turns out, know how to make a hell of a crisp brew. Saddle up in the bar attached to this German restaurant , and order from its wide range of unpronounceable German beers .
OCHSENSCHWANZ SUPPE (A GERMAN TRADITION MADE WITH OX TAILS, ONIONS, MUSHROOMS AND PORT WINE )
Never actually have come here for a meal, but the beer garden is a nice spot to make new friends. Always a good time.
My husband took me here for our first date, I really enjoyed everything the meal, the music , (the company) and even going up on the roof...
Best wienerschnitzel outside of Germany. Also, the trick to dealing with the mustard is breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Dinner price was quite pricy . Listen to the waitress when she says the mustard is hot. Enjoyed the beer esp German ones. Fun place to visit.
An absolute stunner of a German-American restaurant , biergarten , and unique piece of Indy history.
Great food with huge portions . Outdoor biergarten cannot be beat.
The schnitzel cordon bleu , jaegerschnitzel & regular schnitzel are really great, just different arrangements of toppings/sauces. Very spicy mustard . Bread & pretzels are suberb. Doppelbock to drink!
The atmosphere in the biergarten makes for a perfect spring/summer/fall night!
Such a beautiful venue. Love going here for events and drinks both.
Go every night. Such a fun environment and the live music is always great.
The Schlackt Platte is amazing! Paired with red cabbage and German potato salad - just the perfect pairings.
Probably the best place for authentic German cuisine downtown.
Get the Chicken Cordon Bleu fingers and the pork tenderloin . They were delicious.
Great venue for live music . Get there early to get a seat.
Decent German food . Enjoyed the jaegerschnitzel with a hefeweizen .
Beer garden in the summer to private parties upstairs.
Wayne and Mike rock it behind the bar . Some of Indy's finest and unmolested bartenders .
Great beer , great locale, awesome vibe and exquisite food!
If you are looking for an authentic German experience, try this place. From entrees to beers they are legit.
The only beer garden in Indy and they have excellent pretzels and outdoor area .
The mustard is delicious, but hot. No, really, I'm serious.

The spicy mustard is disgusting! I don't see the hype. I literally teared up when I ate it. The beer here is amazing, though!!!
Awesome place
Biergarten is great!
For German food , the place is a joke. For beer and good times, it's always a good choice. Stick with the brats though.
I should have read the tips first. That mustard will clear out your sinuses.

This place is a subtle powerhouse. Great casual atmosphere. Great service. Great German-inspired food with many layers of flavor. Great German beer. If there’s something bad here, I haven’t had it. - Matthew Gordon
Wonderful place! If you can manage dessert, go for the apple strudel with ice cream or the bread pudding. - Bill Chamberlin
Everything I've tried here has been delicious, but my favorites are the edamame, fries, & the vegan banh mi sandwich. They also have SK cream ale on tap and WiFi. The servers are great too! - polina osherov
