Frank Lloyd Wright's designed and built "Home and Studio" in 1889 when he was 22. He raised 6 children there before moving away in 1909. The home was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
It’s really worth getting from Chicago up to Oak Park to visit this historical house. A great combination is to visit also the Unity Church just 3 blocks away. Also a good idea to pre book online.
This home & studio museum will entertain even those with no interest in architecture . Tip - order tickets online because sometimes the wait can get lengthy. Also, definitely take the guided tour .
