Dark graves are beautiful. Amazing photographic spot to use 50 mm lenses
Didn't look for any celebrities -- just walked along, enjoying the peace and quiet , admiring the interesting grave marks and monuments and reading the sometimes-moving tombstones. Nice experience.
Look for the grave of Jim Morrison . You will find it in number 30 in this map
Due to high Vigipirate level, most doors are closed. Eg: the one next to the Père-Lachaise metro. Porte de la Réunion is only open in the morning from 8h/8h30/9h until 9h30, then from 16h-17h30.
So many famous graves to see here.. It's beautiful. Give yourself a few hours and have a map! It's like a village
Beautiful place, though bit depressing. Do not forget to visit tombs of Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison

Very calming place for walking and thinking.

Take a photo of the map and any graves you want to visit before you start to explore - all too easy to get lost
A must of any photographer ! I love it in the winter when dustered with snow. Countless great shot to be made (and not only from Jim Morrisson's grave ! )
The world's most visited cemetery , Père Lachaise is also called La cité des morts - The city of the dead - by Parisians.
You really need a map. I didn't find a free map at the entrance, so I took a photo of someone's map with my phone. It doesn't help much, though. Do some research on the internet before you go there.
After crowded Paris it is nice to escape with old tombs and many trees , no rush.
Most definitely worth a visit when in Paris. Remembert o print out a map of the graves beforehand.
At the main entrance you can get, free of charge, the 2 plans of the cemetery . Don't buy from the flower shop . Don't get only only one, as it's incomplete.

☠ must be so beautiful. To lie in soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, & listen to silence. To have no yesterday & no tomorrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace ☠ - Death
