One of the best sushi experiences I've had anywhere and this is coming from someone who has lived in NYC for 10 years and my wife agrees and she is from Japan. Go with the Chef 's Choice Omakase .

Betty Mak

Go with the omakase and the set menu if you are going on a date. You'll pretty much have tried everything on the menu after that... Which is pretty awesome

Kristopher Chavez

I've had sushi all over the US and this place is hands-down the best from quality to presentation. I have never had a better sushi experience .

Portland Dry Goods Co.

Warning, the following are fighting words: Miyake's sushi rivals the best sushi joints in NYC and San Francisco. And because it's Maine, there's lobster sashimi .

Malay Ros

Oh my gad!! Hands down best sushi joint in portland!! Everything is a little pricey but totally worth taking your breath away!!! Everything is so fresh and melts in ur mouth!

miles lennon

Possibly the best meal I had in Portland. For two people you should both get the tasting menu , but different dishes and split everything

Tim Hettler

Sushi was prepared well and very good; other dishes were a miss for us. Don't miss the lobster roll .

Eater

Miyake serves only fish from Maine waters or flown in from Japan. Chef Masa Miyake’s tasting menus paired with sake offer a world-class experience. [Eater 18 Member]

Portland Old Port

Quiet and calming atmosphere , friendly service and delicious food. Expect smaller and more refined portions than other local sushi restaurants . High quality local ingredients .

Wesley Callahan

The four course dinner here is great to share. Get the pork belly and fried oyster and the lobster roll !

Sarah Chase

The Maine Lobster Roll is truly divine. This is a hidden gem on Fore Street and likely to be a Top 25 for New England soon.

ZenFoodster

Maybe I've been spoiled by the many great sushi joints (eg. Yasuda, Gari, 15 East, etc) in NYC but I wasn't wow'ed here. "Creative" rolls & dishes were overly-mayo'ed or sauced + there was no uni.

Michelle C.

The Mushroom Miso Soup and Japanese menu at Miyake Restaurant , in Portland, ME, is Alex Guarnaschelli favorite on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

Hot courses were fantastic. Unfortunately I didn’t like the sushi . Regular uni was bitter, it was fresh just that in my opinion bitter uni shouldn’t be served as sushi . Sweet shrimp wasn’t sweet. etc.

Alex Cavoulacos

Great omakase - definitely go for that or some sort of sampling vs ordering off the menu

Catherine

Probably the best japanese sushi restaurant in portland. Will not regret visiting.

New, larger location. Reputed to have the city 's best omakase (Chef 's Choice) and unique preparations. Note: it used to be BYOB .

Adrian L

Incredible omakase with unique, creative dishes.

Get the Chef 's choice sashimi...raw lobster tail with garlic oil . Amazing!

Trevor John

The five course omakase is the best choice. The lobster sashimi is outstanding.

Dave

From expectation to experience I have never had such a letdown. This place simply isn't very good.

Naomi

The nigiri is a state of art here !!!

Find. Eat. Drink.

Their sushi is recommended by local seafood purveyors BrowneTrading Company.

Francois Lame

Definitely try the pork belly-insanely good

Rich Brooks

Save up and go w/the chef 's choice. And matching saki , 'natch.

Kai Adams

Tuna 3-way amazing!

Steven Matthews

Have the Maine hamayake as desert . Trust me.

Megan Lyon

The rolls are amazing
