One of the best sushi experiences I've had anywhere and this is coming from someone who has lived in NYC for 10 years and my wife agrees and she is from Japan. Go with the Chef 's Choice Omakase .

Go with the omakase and the set menu if you are going on a date. You'll pretty much have tried everything on the menu after that... Which is pretty awesome

I've had sushi all over the US and this place is hands-down the best from quality to presentation. I have never had a better sushi experience .

Oh my gad!! Hands down best sushi joint in portland!! Everything is a little pricey but totally worth taking your breath away!!! Everything is so fresh and melts in ur mouth!

Quiet and calming atmosphere , friendly service and delicious food. Expect smaller and more refined portions than other local sushi restaurants . High quality local ingredients .

The four course dinner here is great to share. Get the pork belly and fried oyster and the lobster roll !

The Maine Lobster Roll is truly divine. This is a hidden gem on Fore Street and likely to be a Top 25 for New England soon.

Maybe I've been spoiled by the many great sushi joints (eg. Yasuda, Gari, 15 East, etc) in NYC but I wasn't wow'ed here. "Creative" rolls & dishes were overly-mayo'ed or sauced + there was no uni.

The Mushroom Miso Soup and Japanese menu at Miyake Restaurant , in Portland, ME, is Alex Guarnaschelli favorite on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

Hot courses were fantastic. Unfortunately I didn’t like the sushi . Regular uni was bitter, it was fresh just that in my opinion bitter uni shouldn’t be served as sushi . Sweet shrimp wasn’t sweet. etc.

Great omakase - definitely go for that or some sort of sampling vs ordering off the menu
