The drinks are made well . I prefer the downstairs bar over the one upstairs. Could use a little more class instead of the "hoochies" lol

High top table right next to the stairs is best for people watching & taking down a few coors light pitchers (only $5.50). Friday happy hour 9 - 11 can't be beat, half of everything! Smells like state

Best place to be your first stop on your 21st birthday. They have good bands playing, the facility is on the smaller side, but the drink specials are great! My tip is to try their purple Gatorade .

New bar upstairs, "Blacktop Cauldron," is a very nice, brighter and cleaner version of downstairs. I recommend the miller lite jug $8 for five 16oz beers

Head to Ernie's (right upstairs!) after you are finished imbibing for the best drunk food in State College: Ernie's cheesesteak and fries .

If you're in the mood for good live tunes , Thurs/Fri nights @ the Phyrst are a must. Ted McCloskey is a phenom on the guitar and always plays a great set.

The Phyrst was one of State College's best bars : classic, loud , hot, packed, underground & Irish. Then they added air conditioning , banned smoking, and limited the selection. Functionally dead to us.

Good local bands ! Cool place to hang out

For decades they sold lifetime pewter beer mugs. They'd hang it on the ceiling and you'd enjoy half price drafts when you came. Sadly they've killed this tradition, hanging loyal patrons out to dry.
