It's a nice well kept zoo with a variety of animals. They also have their own aquarium . They are also adding on for an island section. I have been to several zoos and this one is the best.
Well worth the money, tons to see and do, my favorites were the flamingos, penguins , and elephants . Get a orange crush icee on your way out, super tasty on a hot day.
Watching the baby elephant get a bath is beyond precious. I also really love the fact there is a petting zoo within the zoo , as it made my son incredibly happy to play with the goats (his favourite)
Get here early around opening times or later in the afternoon or you'll regret it, especially on free admission days!
The zoo is on a hill therefore the easiest thing to do is to take the tram around the zoo . It's only $2 per person. When you get to the zoo there's an elevator , no need to hike up
The Penguins in the Aquarium are fans of the Penguins in the Arena. Historically, the Zoo would loan the local hockey team a Penguin , but it didn't always work out so well .
We really enjoyed our time at the zoo . Most of the animals were out and the weather was perfect.
The 2 dollar tram ride (hop on hop off) is the way to go.
I will be going to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium with my relatives on June 15th. I went to the zoo many times whenever I was younger ... and I haven't been there in several years.
A great value for a day of exploration and fun. Splurge and spend the extra $10 to get a photo with an elephant !
I really liked how the zoo was built directly into the forest and hillside. It felt much more "natural" than a regular zoo .
I am from Cleveland and drive out to PA for zoo trips! My husband, daughter and I love it!
Fun place to visit with lots for the family to see. The polar bear exhibit is "cool" when he finally decides to take a swim . ;)
I come here every year for my birthday! It's seriously one of my favorite places ever! Love the sting rays and the otters!
Although Pittsburgh itself is a charming town , the Zoo is not. It’s tragically small compared to other nearby zoos : Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, & etc. It’s also WAAAY too small for the crowds.
If you have small kids grab a membership, always pack your lunches and you can spend hours here several times a month for relatively inexpensive educational amusement.
Penguins , polar bear , & elephants were pretty much the only animals out walking around. Penguins were great! Otherwise kind of disappointed :/, try Cleveland zoo , I like it better
I love the sand play area that they made! Shady and cool for the adults, and lots of fun for the kids!!
Great place to bring the kids. Annual pass is recommended if you have a family.
Worth taking the van ride in $2 per person. Otherwise its too much walk and may get tired on sunny days.
Make your way to the two-story shark tank and the Water’s Edge exhibit , where children can walk down a 30-foot tunnel with polar bears swimming above and around them.
Strange set up but I've been spoiled by the National Zoo . Favorite exhibit would HAVE to be the red panda !!!! Love them!!
What great weather. Took the little guy (7 year-old Kristian) to the zoo on Sunday and it was fantastic. Really great that Pittsburgh has such nice zoo . Scott says it is so much better than when he wa
Don't be suprised if all the animals aren't up and moveing. They get tired too. But walk around twice! Also, get your walking shoes on enjoy
Skip the bear as quickly as possible. It is going crazy locked up in there. It was peeing itself. Wish the zoo would let it be free.
Awesome zoo ! By far the best I've been too. We love African Wild Dogs & the tigers!
The new viewing area for the giraffes and zebras is really excellent
If you have kids, the family membership is totally worth every penny.
Pleasant place for a short get away with a camera and friends with kids.
Really big zoo but easy to get around. Loved the Komodo Dragon's and Red Panda 's!
Loads of fun, and easy for kids to manage. Don't miss checking out their QR codes. Enjoy!
I do NOT recommend Safari restaurant , tables & condiment station are filthy. In addition, thw staff stands around eating and talking when they could b cleaning the HUGE puddle in the seating area.
At the sea lion underwater window in Kids' Kingdom, take a quarter and slide it along the bench . See what happens!
The Red Panda is the cutest thing you will ever see in your life.
Good for a day to explore with you get guests.
the zoo was very nice i felt very welcomed would go again.
Did you know? Many of the animals at the zoo have names. Check out the zoo’s handy list and tips for identifying them. Read more
The aquarium is worth the price of admission by itself!
Get there early, the animals are more active.
The Asian Lantern Festival runs August through October
Go early! Like right when it opens, it is less crowded and you will get to see 90% of the animals awake before it gets really hot
Not the greatest zoo in the world. Monkey House is interesting enough. PPG Aquarium is ok but nothing to write home about. $2 ticket discount if purchased @ Giant Eagle.
Great zoo , the kidland was nice.
Great place to take very young kids... My son loves the aquarium as a baby b/c of all the pretty colors.
I have been here at least a dozen times during the week. Today I went on a Saturday and I swear more animals were out and about.
Go here during later hours near park closing and you can do everything... Almost like your own park
Love it! Great time with the family.
Fun for the whole family! Be sure to visit the polar bears !
I just wish they had more bears . Polar bears are awesome but they need other types of bears
All the animals are cute !!
So much fun. If need be, they rent scooters for $30 and if you have trouble walking long distances it’s the best $30 and you will enjoy the Zoo and Aquarium with less pain. - anne broadmeyer
Good place to let ur kids burn off steam :) for a nice car ride home. - Kyra D
Looked up this place on Google and almost didn't visit because of negative reviews. I'm glad we did though! This place is great. There are a ton of birds to see and interesting demonstrations. - Kristin Weis
Beautiful park. Gorgeous views over Pittsburgh, in particular at night. Real nice olympic size track and plenty of hard surface tennis courts. Deer is everywhere! - Jenya S
A little more crowded than the zoo section but everything in here was worth seeing - Matt
If you get the opportunity, check out the Penguin Parade. It was fun and the penguins were adorable!! Highly recommended!! 👍🏼👍🏼 - SJY15
Pretty decent selection of food, the salads are quite nice and the chicken tenders were surprisingly delicious - JH H-D
