Call to book your own show here! The Whiskey is one of LA's famous 1960s venues, but mostly hosts metal bands now due to its pay-to-play policy, where anyone who can rent it and book their own show.
Like the Viper Bar , when in LA a great music venue to visit, go during the week and entry is the cost of a couple drinks. The drinks aren't cheap but considering you get a live band no complaints
Loved seeing where my fav bands started at. However, being a tourist , I felt that $13 per person for cover was expensive . Specially when the band playing is not even my type. Nice concept tho
The Doors became the house band here for a week in 1966 where they were discovered by Jac Holzman for Elektra records. Among others, The Doors played with Them, Captain Beefheart, Van Morrison & more!
Became the principal hangout of Sunset Strip musicians & hipsters in the 1960s . Led Zeppelin & Alice Cooper performed here in Jan 1969; then-unknown Led Zeppelin were on their first American tour .
Not just whiskey (as the name implies), but plenty of other adventurous liquors , like Becherovka, sweep you off your feet as the live music gives the night a whole new beat.
It is very cool and stylish . It has a sort of underground vibe. There is cool live music there.
If you're playing make sure to park in the lot directly behind The Whisky . It's $20 but they'll let you move the car to load and then repark and most lots won't.
Small place to see a band! Make sure you don't stage dive lol
Legendary venue! Amazing sound and stage. Long live ! Hope Back next year.
There is a parking structure in front of Roxy/Rainbow/Key Club. They charge $8-$10. Best place to park if you are planning to go bar hopping! Read more
Upstairs there are tables and chairs with a great view of the band
Is there a more legendary Rock 'n' Roll venue in the United States than the Whisky A-Go-Go? No - there is not. Since 1964, the Whisky has been the gold standard for rock action.
Don't bring printed tx. Get real tx. Friend & I: 10 ppl fm door. They put us in separate line 2 get hand stamped & names off list. No computers sys.. Muscle : Go 2 the back of the line . Badly managed.
Rawk! You can get there real early or stand all night.
The Doors where the house band for Whisky A-Go-Go from May 23, 1966 to May 27, 1967, opening for acts such as Them, featuring Van Morrison , Buffalo Springfield, Love, and more.
Spectacular intimate venue to come see a band.
The Doors were the house band for Whisky A-Go-Go from May 23, 1966 to May 27, 1967, opening for acts such as Them, featuring Van Morrison , Buffalo Springfield, Love, and more.
The intimacy of the venue. The history. Reasonably priced drinks.
I can't say much for this place besides what I've gotten on hearsay- I, and my band, were banned from performing at this establishment for life. It's too bad, but it happens to the best of us.
In 11/2006, the Rock Hall designated the Whisky A Go-Go an official rock & roll landmark . Surviving members of the Doors were present for the ceremony. Perry Farrell & others remembered Jim Morrison . Read more
Awesome! Such history! Such amazing bands! Such a great venue!

The Doors were the houseband here in 1966 and Motley Crue got their launch here. If you're with a group - try to get a table in the balcony .
Great place to see a show!
#coldcockwhiskey alone is a great reason to stay and hang
The Doors were the house band here in 1966, until Jim's famous performance of the "Oedipal section" at the end of "The End" got them fired.

Small venue , so great for live bands
The Doors also opened for Van Morrison at the Whiskey during his two week residency in June of 1966.

Dude, it's the fn Whisky
SAGE & School of Rock ????????
Don't do lines of cocaine on the toilet seats here unless you want to get crabs up your nose
It tends to get packed, and badly placed poles could ruin your night...watch out when moshing/skanking.
I've been coming here my entire life...lol all ages welcome
Tthe Doors got fired from The Whiskey almost every night...LOL
Apparently the fastest way to clear a rock club is a hip hop show.
METAL TIP: No moshing when security is on patrol!
Oh ya, and the one bartender couldn't make drinks--spilled a mix drink into the when pouring 3 drinks.
Dilated Peoples.
The security staff here are really rude. I'm sure there's no need to be such a cock. Tell people outside they can't record the bands. Easy!
Booze yeah!!

Bar is way overpriced. Never worth drinking at.
El lugar preferido por las groupies de los 60 y 70 para "cazar" a las estrellas del rock.
Can't beat the tix prices. Valet parking next door is highly recommended. - WeHo City Guide
Quite possibly the best concert place to see a show. Under the stars with a beautiful surrounding. It's worth it to spring for closer seats, but every seat is good. - Michael Kalec
