The Royal Palace in Amsterdam is one of three palaces in the Netherlands which is at the disposal of King Willem-Alexander by Act of Parliament. The palace was built as city hall during the the 17th century. The building became the royal palace of king Louis Napoleon and later of the Dutch Royals.

You can visit the palace every day in July and August between 11-17h. For the rest of the year you have to check the homepage(www.paleisamsterdam.nl/en) for opening hours or take the virtual tour .

Not as pretty as Van Loon House, especially since you can't enter most rooms & have to crowd at the tiny entrances to look inside, but still worth a visit if you're interested in interior architecture

Nice and cosy souvenir shop 50 meters from madame tussauds. You can buy your madame tussauds tickets here €6 cheaper and you don't have to stand in line to get in at tussauds neither. win-win! :)
The now royal palace was once the City Hall . Amazing internal yard with on the floor the world map (as then known)
