Classic Hainan chicken over rice dish the Thai way. Authentic , casual and unpretentious. I felt like I was in Asia again! Complimentary ginger tea and lime infused water. Nong was a charming person.
As a person who’s spent 25 years in Singapore, I can tell you that Nong’s chicken rice is 100% legit. I’ve never had this good tasting chicken rice outside of Singapore. So great.
The most authentic khao man gai I’ve had outside of Thailand and my dad’s kitchen; and the only one of all locations that serves the coconut ice cream - my fave!
More options at this location but as the name suggests, you really should be getting the delicious khao man gai. The rice is rich and the chicken is tender. I enjoyed the side of livers as well .
Chicken and rice . It's that simple and it's that good. They are excellent at what they cook. This restaurant is open every day. The food carts are not open on Sundays
Of course, Nong's addictive signature dish, a Thai take on Hainan chicken , takes center stage, here and at Nong's two food cart locations, at SW Alder and at the PSU cart pod. [Eater 38 Member]
It's just Perfect. And you don't want to miss this. It is real one, taste of Khao Man Gai is sometime better than Thailand, the sauce, the soup ,it just Right!!
So delicious. As good of chicken as it gets. The coconut ice cream has to be in the bracket for best ice cream in Portland.
A delicious, delicious meal - a must have in Portland. If you’re from the SGV in SoCal, this is basically Thai version of Savoy’s Hainan chicken and rice .
This place is the most authentic Thai restaurant I've ever seen in US. Their Khao Man Gai is exactly the same with the one in Thailand.
Simple, but delicious, consistent, and affordable . Don't forget you can get extra chicken vs. PiSize (larger) if you don't really want more rice . If you get the #1, get a side of veggies - broccoli .
Appreciate the simple menu and the restaurant 's laid back vibe. Chicken and rice is very flavorful and comforting.
Chicken rice Must try for a Portland visitor; better than what I've had in Singapore. Piset size perfect for a couple sharing
The number 1 chicken . Simple, perfect. Heard about this on Bourdain, Bizarre, never understood. Hainanese , Thai, Singapore, famous worldwide. I’d love to eat my way through rest of the menu.
Pork over rice or chx over rice or the two in one w the soup - any of these will change your life. Get the ice cream after.
Perfect comfort food , literally just rice and chicken and a little soup . So good
Esquire: Chicken and rice—that’s what you’re getting. A lunch here leaves you feeling the way you feel after you’ve had matzo ball soup in a dependable diner : nourished.
Oh yus. Two in One pork and chicken . Don't forget to look for all the sauces scattered around the tables
if i could bathe in their sauce i absolutely would. the chicken is perfectly poached-juicy and flavorful, and the sauce is excellent.
Crispy chicken skins if they aren't yet sold out and always the chicken & rice . 🍛
I'm gonna commit heresy and tell you to get the pork instead of the chicken . But if you don't, get extra sauce, chicken livers and fried skin added. Pickles are also delightful.
Stick with the classic chicken and rice . Tofu and rice with house made peanut sauce is texturally nauseating.
You're 90% probably going to drive past this place without noticing it but if you do, you're in for a gem for the simplest, delicious Thai eatery .
They are very family friendly and the food is easy on little ones palettes.
Chicken rice (the big size) was amazing
Get the piset and add fried chicken skin . Enjoy
The chicken and rice dish at Nong's Khao Man Gai draws a steady congregation of office workers and food critics alike
Like eating at Mom's - if your Mom was from another country . Amazing chicken !! Sauce is amazing. Perfect blending. Very yummy!
Well this might be hands down a clear front runner for most loved food in Portland. Add me to the ever growing list of satisfied customers
The sauce that comes with the signature chicken rice dish is magical
Delicious chicken and chicken rice . Look out for the fried chicken skin
Love Nong's. Chicken and rice . That's it. That's all. The best
Khao Man Gai is incredible. Eat it!
I liked the original the best with the ginger sauce but the peanut sauce chicken was good too.
The Rice and chicken with peanut sauce doesn't get as much praise as the khao man gai. Must try.
Don't forget to try the KMG ice cream . It's easy to miss, but makes the perfect, bite-sized treat after almost any meal.
Chicken skin is a must add-on
This is one of my favorite summer foods ever. Really really good chicken rice .
Quick and tasty! Add liver , but only if you’re cool.
Everything here is amazing, starting with this table cloth .
Tables are often in high demand here. So if you're in a group, try to get one person to order while the other snags a table.
Simple, but amazing chicken and rice . The sauce and soup are magical, too.
Nice place for a quick snack (very casual ). Peanut sauce is great! Thai ice coffee tastes like Nescafe though.
It tastes like home! So good!
Pork dish was delicious, especially if you enjoy a little bit of fatty meat.
The chicken of course. Get the larger size. You’ll thank me after.
The side soup is amazing... Hot, flavorful, and super soothing, especially on a rainy day!
Delicious Hainanese chicken rice with a Thai twist! The soup was surprisingly amazing
Loved this as a concept. In execution.. picture boiled chicken with boiled rice
Simple Thai spot. Don't expect your typical curry and pad Thai here. They're more known for their rice dishes.
